Why would he want to leave us now that the process is bearing fruition Or does he hope hope to emulate his predecessor here by taking a bottom table team to the PL? If Russell does jump ship it makes no sense why would he leave given there are 16 places and ten points between the team he is managing and a team "courting" him? Interesting times ahead...I wonder why this is such an issue given only a few weeks ago Russ was talking about contract extension and settling here

They are a bigger club, will pay him more and he probably won’t have to sell his best player every year to break even. Having a bad season, but we probably would be too if we’d had Steve Bruce in charge until mid October. Gut feeling is is they’ll want a more experienced manager and he’d be sceptical about a job where he’s much more likely to get sacked.

Supporters should never turn their devotion to players or managers. The club is all and always will be. I’ve been telling this to my brother for years, he eventually got it. Not sure that’s the point here though.

There has been/is a massive love in for Russ though despite the performances and results witnessed from a squad capable of far more. Only a few weeks ago most had had enough and were calling for his head. For whatever reason he dropped his ideals and got us playing senisble football whilst not "dominating" the possession and [passing stats tables and being low in the league table we are now in the top 6. Still some folks are trying to make out that Russ is still following his desired path despite the pundits , stats and what we see on the pitch saying differently In fairness he did change things last season but soon reverted to type which saw us have a dissapointing end to last season which continued up ubntil the QPR game this season.

I can remember Toshack in season two innthenfirstbgetting more plaudits for failure, than Martin. And Martin isn’t even failing, he is rebuilding. After Toshack we didn’t see anything for six years until Yorath gave us a sniffer. Scuse the pun.

The problem with that defence Keith is many could see last season his "process" wasnt working. Luadrup in his second season received stick when results were not coming despite us being succesful on our European journey which was his focus more than the PL many were calling for his head as they felt we would lose our PL status desoite him guiding us to our first major trophy win the orevious season. Martin has has a lot of support and patience ...the last four games have shown what this squad can achieve by a change in how we play After Tosh we were in deep decline....there were lots of issues on and off the field and dont forget Tosh had taken us from the fourth division to the first in a matter of seasons so he had a pedigree what pedigree has Russ?

I’m defending nobody 😂 Russ Martin’s pedigree ? It’s in the future. Just like Potter and Cooper.

Potter got us to an FA cup quarter final almost succeeding in us beating a top PL side to get us in the semi Depsite a rebuilding season he got us to tenth, Cooper took us to the play offs in his first season, gthe final in his second and received loads of criticism despite this yet Martin has receveied loads of support and some criticism too but more calls for patience and support depite a history of poor results

I’m not seeing that at all. He has a few acolytes who he can do no wrong by of course. As you say, the vast majority of us wanted him out not long ago. This is not ‘the plan’. Winning by playing the way we used to I would be his ideal I’m sure. It clearly doesn’t work, so he’s had to scale it back considerably. 100% we haven’t been playing the way we have for a year just to arrive at the way we’re playing now.
