Was told that Glangwili has been exceptionally busy over the last 24 hours, lots of kids with sore throats being taken in by parents who are worried on account Strep A. Could be the same in Morriston.

That's ridiculous, I walked out of there a few months ago, I did need treatment at the time, but I wasn't hanging around for I think it was 16 hours then.

They can't expect people to wait that long, what would be wrong in saying, if you booked in now, and they are that busy, come back at 11pm tomorrow and you will be seen within the hour, why have you got sit there like a lemon for all that time.!

Possibly. a lot of kids are going down with lots of different symptoms and wiping them out and with increasing awareness of Strep A and worried parents who can blame them. Worrying times for all

I did..

I would not have gone up there at 3am in the morning, if I didn't need it.

Only needed stitches, but I couldn't be bothered.

For stitches the minor injuries unit is a good option.

Says what exactly ?. I assume by your response that someone who has a cut so deep and wide would be wasting A&E staff time and we are now at the point that home sewing kit would suffice

The poster said they walked away obviously they are fine so that tells me they didn't need A&E in the first place

Said before that a call went out in royal Gwent A&E that it was either 6 or 7 hours wait for a doctor

More than half left tells you something doesn't it

People should be Triaged at the door. If they're not there for an accident or an emergency (clue is in the name) they should be turned away before even getting inside.

Mind you, GP's need a rocket up the arse as well. They've been on go-slow for about fifteen years, worse since Covid kicked in.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

My dad had a heart attack on Saturday night. My frantic mum phoned 999 only to be told there was a ten hour wait for an ambulance. Me and my brother had to bomb over there bundle him into the car and take him ourselves. So I doubt if they go on strike anyone will notice.

I don't understand, how that tells you I was fine, I needed stitches, that's all me leaving should mean to you, is that i wasn't prepared to hang around there for 16 hours.

I have personal experience of Morriston A+E and it has well and truly become a 'pass-the-buck' outsource centre for G.P's. It's not on many occasions a case of many people not required to be there because they are time-wasters or hypochondriacs, but far more a case of they could have been seen at their G.P surgery instead.

It's farcical at times like the patient who was sent to A+E by the G.P surgery, to then wait 18 hours there, to have a confirmed diagnosis and being told to go back to the G.P surgery that had sent the patient to A+E in the first place.

Black surreal comedy stuff!

Sadly not a unique experience because I have had to do that myself and I spoke to a DataCabs driver who told me that his taxi often acts as a replacement ambulance service!

That doesn't tell you anything at all , in fact you're judge and jury neither of which in this instance you're qualified to be . There's no disputing that some use A&E as a one stop shop for minor but until the problems at the Surgeries are sorted then it leaves very few other options than to either take a chance at the A&E or suffer in silence .Walking away doesn't tell you anything other than at least they didn't have a broken leg ( or did they )

Are you blaming the staff that are constantly swamped for being unable to provide a timely service?
I have had need of A&E services and the staff have been absolutely fantastic, do not blame them, it's the corrupt MPs and MSs that are doing this.

It’s really made me angry. We pay tax from cradle to grave, they squeeze us until the pips squeak. We don’t usually mind paying tax because it pays for vital services, health, the police, local infrastructure.

But when you actually need one of these services it’s sorry there’s nobody available. It is actually criminal. Millions of people paying god knows how much in one of the richest countries in the world and getting nothing but a shit sandwich but there’s no bread because of cuts.

Agree.

I also worry about those who really are ill but don’t want to bother the service. They’re putting themselves at risk when they shouldn’t have to.
