| Swansea City v Watford : Match day thread UPDATED ! 22:04 - Dec 28 with 9665 views | KeithHaynes | Swansea City are on a run of eight games without a win, certain fans are now calling for the club to sack Russell Martin. Although it won’t happen in the immediate there is only so far a commitment to a style of play can go. The pressure is on Martin now more than it has ever been before since his appointment. Slaven Bilić ‘Swansea City are clever, they trick you’ 30th Dec 2022 10:00Watford have an ever increasing injury and suspension list as they take on Swansea City in tonight’s Championship fixture at the swansea.com stadium. ( Kick Off 7.45pm ) On Boxing Day the hornets lost at home to Millwall causing a team meeting and some frank discussions as you can imagine with Slaven Bilić at the helm. Now he wants a complete change in his sides mindset for tonight’s game. 0 Russell Martin answers his critics with an emphatic win for Swansea 31st Dec 2022 08:00Swans boss Russell Martin responded in the only way he could to his growing critics at the swansea.com last night. His sides 4-0 win against Watford not only reinforced his belief he has the credentials to take the swans in to the play offs, it sent his various and growing dissenters to a quiet place at least for the evening. 1

Little old me was. Why?Have to be honest mate and say the catalyst was the Piroe omission. I also look and listen carefully to people and this fella ,to me,just gave me the creeps . The manner in which young players have been misused and experienced pros shafted should speak volumes . I truly believe all want him gone apart from those worried about who are dumbarse owners would replace him with and I see their point really. Martin s interview must have been an o bject lesson in how to win a job . It is now time for all to accept the obvious I’m as confident of that as I am about us avoiding relegation

I have been patient and have no problem with what Martin is trying to do … he just isn’t up to doing it. He has peaked with us.

I don't disagree , now . I was just stating that some for what ever reason couldn't take to him , either as a person or as manager , and even now i don't take any delight in wishing him gone but for the good of not progression as a team but to just to stay where we are in this league at present looks like its at risk .I'm still hopeful he can turn it round but the signs aren't good

Never go home. I think he realises that he would be in a no win situation. Given that the players we have a pretty good I would like to see Sousa back. With the attacking potential we have (but didn’t in his previous stint) he would once again sort out the defence. Most of his teams have been high scoring. Another returnee I would welcome is Guidolin. Osian Roberts is another name who I'd welcome. And there are dozens of unattached managers with far better points per game records than Martin.

The ones who were right can. What is obvious now was obvious last season too, nothing has changed. We even have exactly the same point projection last year and this year, 61. Projected to come 15th or 16th. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - madness.

It was, maybe not obvious to you, but others had it absolutely bang on the money. Last season I literally broke it down into bite size chunks. - Said he is stubborn and is wedded to a style that cannot work. - Explained the short comings in the style and the need for pace, width and speed and noted Martin doesn’t like these things. - Explained in detail that the patterns of play will be very easy to defend against and showed how and why. - Pointed out that with the squad at our disposal we should be going direct. - Said he hates being questioned on the style and has a history for being offended by anyone who questions him. - Said he does not learn and lacks footballing nous, often not looking any further than how much possession each team has. - Made the point he is looking to use us to get his stats up and puts the result as a secondary. Tip of the iceberg, I could keep listing them and take up the whole page. I was called a troll at the time and a Cooper lover, now everybody (or most) recognises the above as par for the course with him, I don’t even think anyone debates any of the above anymore do they? As I said, the issues were obvious very early on - nothing has changed since then.
