| France on 17:03 - Mar 17 with 1550 views | felixstowe_jack | Unfortunately Macron has used his Presidentlal powers to bypass a vote in the French Parliament. Sounds like a dictatorship not a democracy. Mind you it is a bit like Sadiq Khan imposing his tax increase on motorist in London call the low emissions zone. Under the unwritten UK constiution no tax can be imposed on the UK public without the approval of both houses of Parliament and Royal ascent. Will make an interesting test case if the Law courts if people refuse to pay for this illegal tax. [Post edited 17 Mar 2023 17:09]

This isn't about Khan and London, it's about the French who actually stick up for each other unlike the subservient brits.

Just a comparison between Macron and Khan imposing legislation on people without going through their respective legal requirements and Parliaments. I guess you condone riots and criminal actions rather than legal means. Just hope you don't get help up by extinction rebellion next time you need to travel or get to hospital for urgent treatment.

It’s a case of the French having the revolution spirit. Frankly, I wish we had it. That said, I would take to the streets on. Failure of courts to punish offenders appropriately Foreigners being stopped from taking advantage of our NHS An end to Woke But you you have to spend some time organising it.

When you are getting ripped off left, right and centre by corrupt politicians who are busy lining their friends pockets as well as their own, what are we supposed to do? Whenever we legally protest these days the government tries to change the rules to make it harder for us, just as they did with recent strike action. Just as they did because of the miners strike. Our politicians do as they please with nomregard for the peoples wishes so how are we supposed to react? Meekly I guess.

Revolution is the only way we will rid this country of corruption. No government will be true whilst we are governed by the elite who only look after their ilk.

Didn't Blair and Brown pass the pension reform act in 2007. Just goes to show both parties are culpable for the increases

Blair and Brown did indeed pass the Pension Reform Act in 2007, provisions included 1) Reducing the qualifying period from 44 years (men) and 39 years (women) to 30 years for both 2) Raising the pension age for both women and men from 65 to 68 between 2024 and 2046. Guess which political party reversed the changes to the qualifying period introduced by Blaire and Brown and increased it to 35 years, guess which government is looking at bringing forward the increase in pensionable age to 68?
