Labour planning for Government on 10:53 - Sep 29 with 1536 views | majorraglan | It’s a relatively small change in policy now that they’ve realised making the change would be very difficult to implement. It makes sense to review and adapt policy, especially early doors because it minimises disruption. The original policy change was mooted 2 years ago and if they win the GE Labour are unlikely to be in power for at least another 12 months - do that’s 4 years. We’ve seen the current shower U turning within days or weeks of policies being announced. One policy I’d like to see U turned us Drakers 20 mph asap.

Except from Brown Truss May and in Wales first minister Drakeford who had killed Democracy in Wales giving children the vote and introducing a Senedd reform Bill which will result in 56 members of the Senedd that are not elected in addition to the 40 constituency members who are.

The result of the 20 mph limit in Edinburgh - 'Researchers say the number of collisions in one year fell by 40 per cent to 367, and there were 409 fewer casualties – a drop of 39 per cent. A breakdown of the casualty figures reveals that fatalities dropped by 23 per cent and serious injuries fell by 33 per cent.'

You can target certain areas where the speed limit will work to implement it nation wide is insane. Many areas have no casualties or fatalities yet the 20mph limit has been implemented. Research those ares in 12 months and you will see no change.

That's good enough for me. 20 mph is a minor inconvenience, but worth it if it improves safety. Those who don't support it, are like kids who have thrown their toys out of the pram

Why not make it ten mph that’s even safer. Or better still ban cars altogether.

Remarkable stats, yet some people simply will not accept that these measures greatly improve road safety.
