| Momentum for WC 2026 boycott growing . 13:35 - Feb 3 with 1745 views | ReslovenSwan1 | https://news.sky.com/story/ukr These reasons a). Cost tickets over £500-1000 per match b) FIFA politics as above. Not in line with western public opinion at least c) Political turmoil in USA and anti Trump sentiment. d) Toxic rhetoric from US Government to Europeans allies e) Direct threatening talk to Canada and Denmark. Canada host some games Anything can happen folks. [Post edited 3 Feb 13:42]

I saw allowing Russia back into international football as the issue?

My comment was more aimed the the list that followed and the clamour (from some quarters) for a boycott.

It will go ahead for sure, a boycott at this level would be a drop in the pond. And few ripples. Anyone using a political position are as lost as those who know nothing about football but like the occasion. In equal amounts. England and Scotland will take thousands and group tickets are at an achievable price level. We can only hope that March brings an equal response from Wales. England World Cup fixtures ticket prices (ESTC members) Croatia (group stage) - £198 to £523 Ghana (group stage) - £164 to £448 Panama (group stage) - £164 to £463 Round of 32 - £175 to £456 Round of 16 - £220 to £575 Quarter-final - £508 to £1,076 Semi-final - £687 to £2,370 Final - £3,129 to £6,489 Five games there for England fans for around £900 if they have chosen to gamble on pre quarter final games. They won’t care about any boycott.

Some see things politically, me i see things differently. As per my post above. You know me by now that my politics are neither here nor there after forty years of Labour voting and anti fascist work. It’s documented with the band over that time as well. Longer in fact. Nowadays I don’t see a left or right just the dismay of what was true years ago for any working class Welshman. Labour have gone, the Tory’s I couldn’t vote for ever, so the alternatives have no place in my life. Football will win and so will the World Cup for the reasons I stated above.

Football fans of whatever country will have no choice if their governments choose to boycott. I suspect our lot will sh!t themselves rather than do the right thing if that orange pr!ck does invade greenland. As ive said i like alot i know wont be going if wales get through, it isnt about drinking amd have a laugh with other countries fans as was said by a pr!ck on here. [Post edited 3 Feb 17:10]

I know you follow Wales relentlessly and will cheer as loudly as anyone if we get there. Your opinion for that alone is correct. I’m hearing the exiled Welsh in the USA will be there in vast numbers, even further afield like Canada. If there’s opposition don't worry FIFA have the finances to quell that.

We do but the wont have as much travel costs as us and fifa dont give a fcuk about anyone bar themselves, its all about doing the right thing and as ive said our government wont have the balls to boycott even if the orange pr!ck does invade greenland. And before the right wingers come on guffawing, our government no matter who was in charge wouldn't boycott the wc.

There's little sign of boycotts in other areas of life., so why is football different? Iran has qualified for the World Cup, but little sign of 'the enlightened' raising any issues with their participation. Hypocrisy is alive and well, thousands killed by the authorities and not a word. [Post edited 3 Feb 17:43]

Who saved Greenland in WW2 when Germany wanted to base their U-boats there to disrupt the North Atlantic supply ships? I'll give you a clue; it wasn't Denmark!

So that gives them the right to invade? Yeah ok. According to them they saved our arses in WW2, nothing to do with us fighting on our own until they decided to enter after pearl harbour. I think this should be moved to non football as its turned at tad amd drawn me in when I dont normally talk politics bollox.

In 1956 we saw USSR v Hungary water polo months after the tanks moved into Budapest In 69 they did it to Prague yet Mexico went ahead Hypocrisy is the only word This shouldn’t be about left or right but just FIFA is corrupt to the core [Post edited 3 Feb 19:30]

Snow all over the place apparently. Dropping as low as -13 some nights. I've done lower (Canada in 1995 got down to -23) but it should be manageable.

Saudi awarded WC 2034 by FIFA Now the backlog of executions has ramped up to get it cleared and plenty more beheadings and confessions under torture galore in the next 8 years.... No morals in football, none [Post edited 4 Feb 8:31]

I got the joke. However, as I'm not planning on staying in the US illegally or trying to run over Federal Agents, I'm more concerned about actual ice.
