| Matos on Cullen 12:49 - Apr 7 with 5550 views | shandyjack | Think he's got this one wrong, the criticism of Cullen is not because he made 1 or 2 mistakes like Bastoni did. It's purely down to the fact that he's just not good enough for this level to be a regular starter, he offers virtually nothing for the team. Questions need to be asked and answered on what Matos thinks he actually brings to the team. Same for Ronald too. The majority of fans can see it, but if we are wrong i'd love them to come out and tell us why we are wrong just once | |

| Matos on Cullen on 13:33 - Apr 7 with 4307 views | Whiterockin | Cullen,Fulton and Ronald seem to be the players that some supporters don't understand why they are picked. I would suggest that they do exactly what the manager wants and carry out his instructions impeccably and that is why they are picked. The question should be why after all the signings we have made, have they not been replaced with better players who can do exactly what the manager wants. | | | |

I think a big problem is he’s playing in a position which doesn’t suit his game and I’m not sure he’s comfortable playing it. He seems to spend a lot of time wandering across the pitch hoping to close players down or win possession but doesn’t quite manage either very often. Remember he came through the age grade sides as a box player and I think that’s where his strength is not the job he’s being asked to do.
| Matos on Cullen on 13:52 - Apr 7 with 4258 views | Dr_Winston | If you're 1-0 down with ten minutes to go it's worth bringing him on because he does have a knack for finding a goal in a pinch. Don't ask him to do anything else because he can't. No matter what position he plays in, no matter what coach he's under. He's simply not up to it at this level. | |

What do you think the reason is for him continually playing.

Hello j What , you asking me ? Not sure I’m worthy of your time but as it’s a nice day , then I reply by saying he isn’t He doesn’t play continually He can’t play up front on his own We can’t expect VIP to do it all , as he does, so that’s when Cullen comes on to the field of play , as respite He is subbed or comes on as sub , that should answer question Meanwhile, some of our players are expected to play 90 mins every game no matter what Cabango gets stick but he’s a great lad and club man , a good role model who doesn’t treat mascots like shyte or invisible Something like that

Matos wasn't here long and he was asked what he thought of the squad. His reply was we have some excellent players but it is my job to make an excellent team. It didn't take him long to realise that you can't try and put our best players out and just hope they jell, they have to complement each other and you need a balanced side. This was the failing earlier in the season Sheehan just tried to use the new signings and make them fit it didn't work. Matos looked at the players and went back to players who could play together and slowly integrated the new signings. Many of the new signings can't get into a Matos team together. Matos has already said future signings must be team ready, possibly when this happens then the likes of Cullen will play a lesser role. But for this to happen our data based recruitment must change to team recruitment.
| Matos on Cullen on 15:27 - Apr 7 with 4084 views | shandyjack | lets look at strengths and weaknesses as a starter for 20 then, Pace - Limited Strength - Not much First touch - Decent enough Heading ability - Below standard needed for a striker Finishing ability - Good Dribbling - Limited Defensive workrate - Good It's not his fault he is being picked and he's made a good career so far, but for me he's no where near the standard of a player needed for a team looking to be in top half of the championship. It's so frustrating to see him being picked ahead of others who can offer so much more in the number 10/winger role and it's stifling our attacks, same as Ronald | |

| Matos on Cullen on 15:35 - Apr 7 with 4072 views | Treforys_Jack | It's easy to jump on the bandwagon, but unfortunately some if not all the negative comments have some merit. Liam great to come on with 30mins to go, but not a starter in the Championship for me. Does he get more criticism as hes a local lad or less ? | | | |
| Matos on Cullen on 15:38 - Apr 7 with 4067 views | shandyjack | I don't think he gets any more than Ronald, who lets be clear, for me is a bigger problem than Cullen | |

But can they offer so much more. On the bench yesterday, Idah who plays up front Cullen didn't. Nunes plays wide, no matter what some feel Cullen didn't play wide right. Yalcouye who continually gets caught in possession and gives the ball away but is a talent and Walta who up until now has done nothing and may or may not be a decent Championship player, yesterday was not the day to try him out.

But why not, we can't go up or down, we Know what Cullen can offer. What was there to lose by playing Walta yesterday? Nunes and Yalcouye are on loan so i wouldn't bother with them unless needs must.

Cullen didn’t offer himself to Parker at all yesterday so the lad had to continually play it back to Cabango ,who eventually stopped passing the ball wide to Parker ,Cullen also didn’t help defensively With Ronald in front of him second half,Parker had someone to play the ball to and take a pass off and looked very good Second half in midfield ,Cullen did nothing to influence the game, tackling, passing or attacking It was like playing with 10 men He did nothing against Sheff Utd and Nothing for Wales before that I’ve said he wouldn’t get in any other championship team and I believe that,he’s not dynamic enough for a top side and not tough enough for a bottom one and the fact no top or mediocre teams have come in for him says a lot Cullen shouldn’t have played at all yesterday not starting and not coming on ,We should have started with Nunes in front of Parker and I think it would have been a different game Matos clearly can’t see what is blatantly obvious to everyone else that watches us play…..or he just doesn’t want to,either way it’s concerning because it’s crystal clear Cullen isn’t good enough My opinion on Matos has changed because of this

In all my years of watching the Swans and im into tje sixth decade of doing so there have always been players that the fans believed were useless yet managers persisted in picking them.....including gois managers....like Harry Griffiths,Tosh,Martinez,Brendan and Luadrup during these times certain individuals have been the target of critisicm form the stands and in more recent times on forums and the like. It can also be said that mnagagers get things wrong like John Bond giving away Dean Suanders stating he was never a footballer. We as fans shoukd bow to the superior knowledge of the proffesional coaches and managers. Yes many of us may coacb or have coached but.nit at these levels ir know what the coach is looking for. Im dissapointed you have changed your opinion of Matos....he is a very good mamanger and a great man managerr too. He got everyone together in the pitchnin a huddle at the final whistle obviouslynro congratulate on all thier work to achieve that result against the side second in the league. Lets be honest the.majority of us fans were expectimg a result similar to that of the Coventry one. Whilst we fans form our opinions on expectations and what we beliwce we see coaxhes and managers make their decisions on whst they see not only on tje yrsining field bit on rhe data derived during a game from the row of analysts gathering data sat.at the back of the West Stand along with the coaches watching. There are game plans with individuals told to do certain things ...watch substitutes befofe they come on gettingnimstructions from tablets or files... Yes Cullen is no superstar if he was he wouldnt still be here....the coaching staff obviously believe he has something to contribute. Ronald too is much criticised but if he were the complete player he certajnly wouldnt be here. As Matos said he needed to build a team....he is tryimg to do his best with the resources available. In my opinion he has been a breath if fresh air and has made us a better team tjan we were earlier in the season.

Personally I'm enjoying far more, most teams in the division or any division really, envy our home record since he's been here. Still some baffling moments around subs and selection etc , but it's a yes from me [Post edited 7 Apr 18:41]

And many supporters still have not returned after the dross of Martin , Williams and Sheehan They caused enormous damage IMO When fans feel shat on they stay away Fact Matos IS full of spirit and has more personality in his toenails than the three above mentioned but some of his selections are questionable He is very hard to dislike for sure and I thi k he is a genuine man but you never really know This season , again, has been very frustrating but the bottom line is , the likes of you and me are still around to bitch with each other when many are no longer around thst would have loved to Enjoy , before I forget Enjoy the summer and that goes for the rest of my followers Next season … Wrexham Cardiff Swansea same league Resurgent Lincoln Bolton wonderers Wolves Old tome massive club West Ham cheeky thieving cockney bustards in “ free” ground And yo yo diverse Burnley Gonna be helluva season
