Last year's 1-1 draw was a good game, both sides pressing hard and trying to play decent football.

They have had the full 1,900 allocation, I wonder what the gate will be. Only the East and West are open for home supporters and there seems to be an awful lot more blue availability than tickets sold.

Poor show so far, but the club don’t help themselves with advertising etc

The EFL haven't helped. The Saturday before the league season starts is poor judgment it should be midweek after the season starts. This season the cup match has been devalued and it seems like a friendly, that should never be the case with the possible money involved.

I would have thought that Swans fans would be champing at the bit to see live football after 3 months off.
Birmingham fans seem up for it, all 1900 of them.
Hopefully Swans fans will wake up and realise there is a game on.

They won't wake up unless someone tells them and the club are not good in that department.

Over 2,000 travelling to Stoke shows the supporters have the appetite but not for the EFL Cup unless there is a decent draw. A week before the league season and live on Sky doesn't help.

Don't disagree but it can't be denied that many folk are away currently despite change from the old stop fortnight many still especially those with kids in the last week of July and first two weeks of August.
For.me the season starts too early I remember when it kicked off on August Bank Holiday weekend, and the EFL Cup was a week or so later.

At the moment we are looking at a Cardiff City size League Cup crowd. Less than 7000 which includes 1900 from Brum.
Hopefully another 3 or 4000 will realise there is a game on.

It feels like a friendly playing it before a league game.

But it's a free hit

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

We had 5,000 last season for the 1st round, so 7,000 would be level par. I don't think 10,000 is attainable, but who knows?

It amazes me as to why so many of our hardened season ticket holders of many years just dont turn up for the early rounds of this competition.
There is such a feel good factor around the club at the moment.
We are up against a fellow championship club in a tournament we can proudly say we previously won.
The club deserve all our support now more than ever.
I love the fact that they have moved the first round match to before the first league game.
This is no meaningless friendly - it's the real thing.
This is an important match with with something riding on it.

I agree with you regards timings. It’s a serious game which will help but=old the team ready for the bread and butter games. Depending on the side picked, we’ll be a bit more prepared for Stoke the following week.
