| Daily Mail Brexit Poll 18:27 - Aug 25 with 6452 views | johnlangy | Now that's a shock. The Brexit loving DM ran their own poll asking it's readers to vote. And 84% voted to rejoin. So even Daily Mail readers can get it right some of the time | | | | |
| Daily Mail Brexit Poll on 21:40 - Aug 25 with 3912 views | ReslovenSwan1 | People can see with their own eyes young male and female Europeans have been replaced by predominantly male Asians. They seem this as a n unintended consequence as they had absorbed a fake narrative. The narrative was that the large number of malingering Males in UK would take the jobs the Poles and Portuguese did. The solid British working bloke was under cut by cheap immigrants. They should have flourished but did not. This was a fake narrative. Indians and Bangladeshis took up the slack not Brits. The young Europeans added something to life in the UK I think. | |

| Daily Mail Brexit Poll on 09:30 - Aug 26 with 3742 views | johnlangy | Andy Burnham is being asked in every interview if he's going to call an early election. There's a possibility that he may well do that on a manifesto including a Rejoin the EU referendum. I wonder how many people who would normally vote Tory/Lib Dem/Green would vote Labour in that scenario simply in order to ensure the referendum happens. | | | |

| Daily Mail Brexit Poll on 11:14 - Aug 26 with 3615 views | AnotherJohn | The mistake many make is to assume that the economic trends present immediately before BREXIT would have continued had the UK not left. Actually the economic performance of the EU's big four - Germany, France, Italy and Spain - since then is no better than that of the UK (worse on some measures). I'd say that the Labour Government is well aware that issues like the currency, Schengen, loss of Thatcher rebate, and the Migration Pact make rejoining infeasible in the short term. | | | |

The problem for a party calling for a referendum is it doesn't always deliver the result you expect.

Yes it’s probably been his main selling point that he wants to make politics more local and give more power and influence to local areas who probably get overlooked by the Westminster bubble. That approach is pretty much diametrically opposite to rejoining the EU. I doubt there are many Maltese, Croatian or Latvian commissioners or MEP’s that have the slightest care about the plight of people living in the north of England or Wales or Cornwall. Rejoining the EU would make politics far more distant, far less local than what Burnham has suggested so far.

Massively expensive outdated English institutions preserved ( monarchy and a house of Lords ) . Cheap one the Senedd thrown to the Wolves. English viewpoint rule the roost for much of Wales. The Senedd is disliked by many because it is leftist. This can change I have no objection to Reform running Wales if they are 100. % behind the the. Institution . English rule is now effectively English Asian rule with Asians in nany key ministerial roles. Too many Welsh are afraid of self responsibility.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a referendum for people to make a decision on what they want for the future. Nobody is preempting the result, just giving the voters the choice. To deny this means you are afraid of the possible outcome.

I’ve got to be honest, I think the prospect of him calling a GE is almost nil. Last time out, Labour did exceptionally well and ended up with 411 MP’s, it was one of their best ever results. Even if he were to win a GE, it’s extremely unlikely to repeat that he’ll get the same level of support that Starmer attracted so he’s going to end up putting loads of his current MP’s on the dole which will go down like a cold cup of sick in Westminster. (Some would say it’s good news that MP’s are getting the boot, but that’s a discussion for another day). Burnham might call a GE being if the resurrected enquiry in to Farage and Reform’s finances turns up some major scandals and skullduggery which completely undermines Farage’s credibility and annihilates them in the polls. My take on Brexit is that it’s been a disaster and I lay the blame for that fairly and squarely on our politicians who were more concerned with bickering amongst themselves, scoring points, egos than delivering a Brexit that would have worked for the people and the country. As AJ has pointed out, any return would be minus the rebate we had before and potentially on terms we’d find it hard to accept. I think things will have to get worse before there’s any major groundswell for a new referendum.

Does Wales really think it has the clout to stand up to Westminster and then have a go at Brussels and change their mandate , it will be laughed off but the Kinnocks abstaning Nation of Sanctuary as bleated by Plaid , they said it in their manifesto and the sheep followed suite and voted them in , now chaos on migrants coming into your area soon . And no I did not vote Reform .

If it was anything less than we had before things would have to be considerably worse here for me to vote yes. At least you’d hope that if a vote came up in the future we’d know what we were voting for, u like in 2016, when leavers seemed to have very different versions of what Brexit meant.

Belgium, Germany and Spain have high levels of devolution from central government. As an aside, the countries you mentioned with half a dozen or so others are about the size of wales and manage to run themselves. It seems that a number of Welsh people think we are uniquely incapable of governing therefore wa t the senedd to go.

and those people are right , the past 26 years has shown that for the exception of a small corner of the country its been a unmitigated disaster for the rest of us , all the devolved powers have shown that 3rd rate councillors shouldn't be anywhere near the centre of power.

It may have been a disaster due to those involved but is that a reason to abolish it? Why do you think Welsh people are uniquely incapable of running a parliament? Lower IQ? Inherently corrupt? The there must be something that makes us different?

Lets see how we go with this lot but since the Senedd was formed public services in Wales have regressed whilst SE Wales has benefited beyond recognition. So possibly both of the suggestions you put forward. I would just say possibly feathering their own nest.

Possibly they are kept under control which is not happening in the Cardiff based Senedd. All I am saying is give the Welsh people a vote on what the want going forward, that is democracy. 26 years is a long enough trial. If the vote goes to continue with the Senedd fair enough. But I believe many feel as I do that what we voted for is not what we have.

I’ve no issue with reform, but I can’t accept we’re not capable of being better. The last referendum for me was in 2011 with increased powers was really a signal to keep going. Like for like like that would give us Brexit before 2033 which for me is way too soon.

So do you accept as someone living in England that people living in Wales should have the opportunity to vote on if they want to continue with the Senedd or not. I voted for devolution and I am bitterly disappointed with how it has turned out. Pretty much the same way some voted for Brexit and are now think it was a mistake. 26 years in Wales is long enough, let's just see if the Welsh public still support the Senedd.

No need to answer if you feel I’m being intrusive but I believe you live & work in England , is there a particular reason for that decision ?
