If the Cham'p doesn't resume, should WBA & Leeds replace Villa & Norwich in PL?
at 19:39 29 May 2020

West Brom should go up.

Leeds shouldn’t as they are Leeds. Plus I’m still pssd off at receiving a 25 year ban from their main WACCOE website which dates back to when we were both going for the Division 1 title and I was having some light-hearted banter with their Neanderthal fans. One messaged me to say he knew where I lived even! I think I still have about 12/13 years to serve.

I get what you’re saying and in fairness, I called the players out back at the time they took a deferral and some fanboys were fawning over them not realising it was a deferral and thinking it was a wage cut. The players remain somehow elite and untouchable and beyond criticism in this. Well to me that’s bllx. Them, and in further fairness, Birch, Cooper and all the senior management team should be doing their bit and taking cuts (if they’re not). The current owners are plainly never going to put their hands in their pockets, never have, never will and we’re pssing into the wind trying to call them out on this ( even though they should be). I just hoped some of the players might show some bllx and share some pain with the fans. The ex-owners are down the road and they’re not going to do anything to financially help the club now, whether we think morally they should or are somehow obliged to do, which of course at this time they’re not.

If the players and senior management figures had told us they were covering a share of the ST monies and that we were then in this together, there would be calls to build a statue to Birch on twitter right now

It was Rodon’s family replying to my tweet calling the players out. Apparently taking a wage deferral is more than enough and no more should be expected of the players. They are doing their bit...

I never met you Paul. Clearly my loss from reading everything said here. You acted on here with dignity and you’ve left this place with even more dignity. Thoughts with the family and all who knew you.

Teachers are a disgrace trying to politicise the Pandemic
at 20:56 19 May 2020

Fair play to the OP, could he be more ignorant and thick ...just in case he’s hard of thinking too... the answer is no ( just to help him out)

Mrs MJ is a primary head here in England. As I type she is on a Teams Governors meeting (since 7pm) talking about the return to school on the 1st June. I say return, she’s been in since day 1 providing schooling to kids of essential workers. You know, those kids of those most at risk of catching Covid and all without PPE. There is no PPE being offered by Boris to schools, he somehow thinks schools must be immune from Covid. They are not. Over 50 teachers have so far died, third (I think) behind NHS and care home related staff/residents.

When over a 100 kids start in June, the 4yo children will continue to hug, hold hands, lick each other etc, they haven’t got a clue about social distancing.

I hope schools will not become the new care homes.

Anyway, thick as fck people like the OP will no doubt not care about teachers dying and will continue to throw barbs from the safety of their sofas.

Where did you spend your best summers when growing up?
at 06:54 19 May 2020

What a top thread.

Spent summers outside all day pretty much from morning til dark (or when you got called in for tea) playing football, cricket and games like bobby-kick-the-can down the rec behind my parents house in Gorseinon. All the boys would just somehow meet and we’d spend most of our time there. Or we’d be up the old mountain colliery getting black playing in the old buildings and sliding down the old slag heaps. And we’d be making dens and playing in the woods and swimming in the river beyond the colliery. Summer ‘holidays’ were day trips in the car up to and all round mid Wales and the edges of north wales and the beaches down west. And the sun always shone, always. Great memories and great simple times really.

Goodbye my friends

I always thought you were a voice of reasonableness on this forum, a rare thing. I don’t know who you are and I never met you (I think) but I felt I knew you in some way.

Thank you for your interaction on here, you were definitely one of us who made it a better place.

Sort them out up there and spread the Swans word.

Thoughts are with you at this time of times.

Trust Statement May 2020
at 22:42 6 May 2020

In fairness to the Trust that statement largely called out the players to do their bit as otherwise it’ll harm the club and in turn harm us fans. Which I think is absolutely correct and hopefully us a wake up call to the fanboys lauding the players for taking a wage deferral...

Best programme on tv for me. Love travelling and seeing other countries ( this current time has really bggrd up my latest plans). That programme took me back to inter-railing days ( anyone else done that on here?) long rail journeys, sleeping on station floors, hardly any money, but seeing amazing sights and meeting the best of people.

Fox Hunting - what do you think?
at 20:47 21 Apr 2020

Live out in rural Oxon, quite a few hunts out our way. I gave a lift into Oxford one day one of our neighbour’s kids, lad about 16 at the time. Looking to strike up conversation to pass the half hour or so into Oxford I said...you into football, rugby, cricket...what’s your sport? Fox hunting he said...it was a long half hour that journey...😀

Education Minister Kirsty Williams – Response to Coronavirus ...
at 12:37 20 Mar 2020

I mentioned this in the other teachers thread on here - my wife’s school for example are already planning to be in over Easter and through to and including the Summer holidays if needs be and keeping school open for all who will need to use it (key workers children/ children that need a hot meal/ children at social service risk etc), so there’s a clear realisation amongst teachers that the traditional role of schools may during this time change. They are going to be a key factor in keeping our economy going best it can in part.

A thought for Teachers (n/t)
at 21:04 19 Mar 2020

That was my point on that really. She wants to get an email out on parent mail to let parents know who is/isn’t considered a key worker with tomorrow being the last full school day and so parents can have the most warning for making childcare/working arrangements. Yeah the Govt haven’t thought through the logistics of this. But in fairness the intention is there.

Mrs MJ is a Headteacher and she and all her staff (except one...there’s always one) are fully committed to doing their bit for the good of all and keeping the school open for not just children of the key workers (who btw still haven’t been fully defined...so there’s chancers out there already trying to blag their children to come to school) but the children who need a hot meal and the children who social services think need to be in school and away from abusive households. All fully committed to working across Easter and through the Summer if needed. Til no longer needed.

I’m the first to take the pss out of Mrs MJ over the years for working 2 weeks then having 4 weeks half term break (slight exaggeration but you get the point) but now very proud to say her and her colleagues just getting on with it and pulling together with the rest of us...when I’ve seen some snidey digs about teachers...well not this time 👊
