Zidane was a marvellous player but he generally played in fantastic national and club sides. I honestly thought Nedved was best player of that era, he had to play teams on his own. Compare Zidane flaming out in the French disaster of 2002 with Nedved carrying the whole Czech team on his back in Euro 2000.

I saw Zidane live in New York, Roma v Real. Of course it was only a friendly, but he had a forcefield around him. Nobody could get close, he controlled the ball and moved it so effortlessly playing at his own speed in his own time. Beautiful player, even if perhaps not the most productive.
Yep, this has always confused me. Paying £3.50+ for a beer just to then throw it around in freezing mid-January, drenching everyone.
Similarly that thing in the World Cup fanparks last year when England scored and everyone would purposely throw their beer into the air. There was a video from one where you see the guy walk back to his mates with a few pints and hand them out just as England score and one or two of them just throw the whole thing straight away. What. Is. The. Point?!

My Real Madrid mate who watched him in his prime laughs whenever anyone says he's one of the greatest players saying he wouldn't even make the top ten for Real since he's been watching. Says he was very average for a lot of the time there and not even on the same planet as the Ronaldos or Raul.
His stats aren't that great for them, 37 goals in 155 games and not that many assists either.
I'd put players like Romario, Zico, Baggio, Totti and Henry miles ahead of him.

"Make sure you put lashings of vinegar on it..." Really? If something needs to be smothered in bloody vinegar to taste good then the dish is obviously flawed from the outset. I'd rather have a Greggs for lunch mate.

Out of interest, why? Can’t beat visiting warmer foreign places, a bit of sight seeing, relaxing by a pool, on a beach, new foods.

Hot weather, relaxing by the pool or on the beach, either abroad or here.
I quite like sitting in the sun with a decent book and a drink but not with a bunch of people I don't know; I'd rather be in my own garden. A bit of sun is nice, but not so hot you have to jump into a pool or the sea to cool off, and not so hot that my skin burns and/or I get sweaty.
Really expensive watches. On my quite nice watch (which was a present) the time is quarter past one. Would the time any better on a Rolex ? Would a Rolex somehow give you more time ? Would you live another 50 years if you were on Rolex Time ? Anyway, the time is on my computer, my iPad and on my phone but no, I’ll stop drinking, give up my season ticket and buy my clothes at Oxfam so I can buy a Rolex.
