I agree, I've got really fed up with listening to him over the years. He'll make a point, and then spend the next three days justifying why he was right. Quite often its in PhD in the bleeding obvious territory anyway. Maybe it's because I worked with a couple of know it all Yorkshire men for years, but I just can't listen to it anymore. Too white and too tory? Too effing boring

I've always loved the TMS team, even more after talksh@ts efforts. I can't wait for the cricket, nearly as much as the football. Summer without cricket, it's just not Summer is it?

Talented, perhaps even great cricketer, but also flawed both as a player (most of his peers believed he played for himself rather than the team). Always found him one dimensional as a commentator to be honest, once the wife beating was exposed I never felt inclined to listen to him and was a bit surprised he got back on the circuit.

Never knowingly understood

I like a mix, and a pompous bore is always fun. Makes me laugh.
I'd prefer they got rid of the thin-skinned Aggers to be honest.

Bare bones.

Disagree, knows his stuff, is opinionated (and not for the sake of it) and doesn't take any b0llocks from the rest of the commentary box and is loved by his fellow commentators for it i think. A loss to cricket commentary.

In 2 minds a bit with this one - Don't partiularly mind his style, Michael Vaughan is never going to reach his level as the acerbic Yorkshireman. Felt a bit awkward listening to Boycott paired up with a couple of the good female commentators though - his lack of respect for a female opinion in the commentary box seemed really clear to me.

I'm with you on this. Does have his Grandpa Simpson moments but usually makes technical points in a way that makes sense to me. Also more open to innovation (Day/Night Tests, DRS) than you might expect. Criticises T20 for undermining the skill of building an innings but recognises that it has stimulated innovation. Knows his stuff on sub-continental cricket.

Everyone has to retire sometime but I'll miss him.

I like Isa Guha though.

Agnew's the BBC's cricket correspondent so that's unlikely to happen. The BBC cricket correspondent has had a place in the TMS box since Brian Johnston was doing the job in the 60s through to CMJ in the 70s and 80s and Agnew since the early 90s.

Actually I've wondered how long Agnew should go on as Cricket Correspondent. He's good but I preferred CMJ, who was just a lovely man.

It's really a role for a journalist rather than an ex-player as such and I think of the current lot Simon Mann would be best suited - not a lot of charisma but that may not be a bad thing, I sometimes think there's too much ego about Aggers.

But the one I'd really like more of is Jeremy Coney - dry wit, very knowledgeable but no ego. Usually only brought in for NZ games but I believe he lives in Oxfordshire.

Boycs gets on me tits a bit but i'd have him over Micheal Vaughan and Graeme Swann, who both irritate my farmers more than a ker plunk stick with Fiery jack rubbed on it.

As well as being my perfect woman sent from the sensorial oort clouds of heaven, I love Isa Guha.. Fantastic commentator and a vision of much, much beauty.

As a nipper i always loved Norman de Mesquita and Ralph Dellor, both sadly passed away, on radio london 3pm sunday afternoons describing Roland Butcher, Neil Williams(RIP), Norman Cowans and Vincent Van Der Bilj going Frankie fraser insane with the bat and ball for middlesex in the JPL. Magic.

I'll miss him too. It might be irritating to some people and I get that but I've grown up with his sayings like my mum could have caught that in her pinny and it still makes me laugh. I also think he's supremely knowledgable. He's also a bit of a counterbalance against the Aussie commentators who are similarly extremely partisan. But he's never going to be politically correct in the slightest, which can be a bit annoying.

The dire Talksport team really showed how brilliantly TMS do their job. It takes real skill to be able to do all the technical stuff but still balance it with charm and humour. It's sad that an institution like TMS will be sabotaged just so Sky can get total coverage.

I agree that Aggers can let his ego get in the way and be a bit thin-skinned and pursue the odd vendetta which is annoying but he also paints beautiful pictures with his commentary and he's easy on the ear. I couldn't listen to too much Simon Mann. He might know his stuff but he's not got the ease and charm you need for the radio.

Now you're talking! Dear old Norman, now there was a proper commentator. Takes me back to my grandparents house, listening to that as a real youngster. Glory days for middlesex, although oddly not normally in the 40 over competition. I agree with swann and Vaughan too, why is there this obsession now with having former players as commentators? Give me norman and Ralph anyday

I can take or leave Boycott, Blowers? or Henry Calthorpe Blofeld to give him his right name, he represents everything about the upper classes that I hate but I gotta say I do like his commentary and his accent there's something about the daft sod.
For me though David Lloyd 'Bumble' is the master.

I have a bit of a thing for Isa Guha too.

The good thing about the women is that they've played cricket to a decent standard - maybe not up with the men, but decent and they know about competition - but since they're paid less they usually have to be able to look after themselves in the real word and they've got a bit more about them than e.g. Vaughan who's never done anything except play, talk or write about cricket.

Two people from my working past Norman and Ralph. I used to work in the Radio London newsroom with amongst others those two. Different as chalk and cheese, Norman extremely loud and Ralph very quiet. Norman was the fastest two fingered typist I had ever met. It was probably my favourite job ever!

I'd put Isa Guha up as a contestant in the world's sexiest voice competition, could be a close run thing with Cerys Matthews and Penelope Cruz.
