On a nice little run of goals again lately after a long drought. Be nice to see him double figures for the season. His decision making in front of goal can be questionable at times, otherwise I believe he would have 10-12 by now. Yesterday was a perfect microcosm of that. I can't decide if yesterdays assist by the GK, was vindication that he should take the shot on regardless of the odds of scoring, or if it will only encourage him to make the wrong decisions, costing us potential goals in the future

Ya, the goalie bailed him out on that one. Chair really wasted a 3-on-3, to be fair, and ended up taking on a shot from a silly angle.

I thought Marosi did very well to save Chair's two 1-on-1's though. No blame on either of those, I'd have thought.

Unfortunately, I think it's the latter. He kept on trying to beat the keeper at the near post and because of the goalkeeper's fumble, for once he got away with it.

I don't really have a problem with it.

The fact is he's nearly always on target and makes the keeper work, so if he's got sight of goal then why not? maybe there are better options available, but most of those options are a bird in the bush rather than the hand, and can change in the split second he chooses not to shoot.

He is looking up a lot more than he was last season and I don't think anyone can argue with his end product in terms of contributing to goal scoring opportunities even if his direct assists column is looking a little sparse.

I think he still has work to do in that regard, which in some ways just shows how well he's doing overall. Few occasions every game you can see charlie in particular getting frustrated when he shoots instead of passing it

The one major plus point about MW is how he handles player fatigue which has played a huge part in the development of younger players

He could have got his ten goals for the season in the first half against Coventry if their keeper hadn't been as good.

Never knowingly right.

Totally & uttelry unfair comparisons, but I'm going for it anyway!

See Sterling square pass for City goal and Ings finish for Southampton at the weekend to see how 'easy' chances should be converted converted.

Obviously if our players could do that on a regular basis, they wouldn't be our players, but that sort of composure is what Chair (and the others) should be aiming for - which tbf, is I'm sure what they are doing!

No reason he cannot end up a 10 to 12 goals a season attacking midfielder kind of reminds me of Gavin Peacock in terms of size and technique. Would expect his decision making to get better with more games he plays currently just over 100 League games so another half season should get him to Warbs's 120 to 150 games target

Most opposition fora see him as a, if not the, key player for us with the naked eye. It'd be a really interesting statistical analysis that accurately reflected his importance to the side given it would have to go deeper into a lot of the less superficial aspects and metrics like buildup involvement, ball progression, press resistance etc.

He also works his socks off.

Even when its not quite working for him, he never hides.

His decision making when through on goal on in breakaways is poor - he takes way too long on the ball. And his finished is meh. But these will all improve.

What's been nice to see is his creative through-balls in and around the area has really blossomed over the past few games.

For the avoidance of doubt...I am pro-Chair.

Agree absolutely that he always makes space to receive the ball, plus he makes things happen.

I think he has suffered a little this season from the absence of Eze as they were on the same wavelength and could ping balls to each other through packed defences. Instead this season Chair has often ended up going on voyages across the edge of the opposition box looking for someone to pass through to.

Until recently he also wasn't giving Wallace much to work with. Then against Reading Chair passed Wallace a through ball to run on to, which led to the Dykes goal, and against Coventry he spotted Wallace on the overlap and again gave him something to run on to with just enough space to get a cross in.

For much of the season there was also nobody giving through balls to Chair like Eze used to do. Against Coventry Johansen provided Chair with some great through balls. I just felt he was too tempted to always blast the ball towards the keeper.
