‘Coke head’ football fans face long ban
MIDDLE class ‘coke heads’ found with the drug at football matches face a five-year ban, Boris Johnson will announce today.
Anyone convicted of using cocaine at games will also face losing their passport to stop them travelling to overseas games.
The Prime Minister will say: ‘Middle class coke heads should stop kidding themselves, their habit is feeding a war on our streets driving misery and crime across our country and beyond. That’s why we are stepping up our efforts to make sure those who break the law face the full consequences - because taking illegal drugs is never a victimless crime.’
Five-year football banning orders can currently be imposed by courts only on offenders convicted of violence, disorder and racist or homophobic chanting.
The measures are expected to be introduced during the coming 2022/2023 season. More than 1,300 orders are in force now. |  | | |  |

And third - is this football being singled out again? I don't do Six Nations and that lot but are the darling rugby fans not into this as well? Because in my experience it's also an enormous problem at big race meetings. We used to go to Ascot a bit but it's just not worth the hassle now, coked up lads in cheap suits fighting all over the place, carnage on the train back to waterloo. Five year bans from racing as well? Or would that upset The Jockey Club again? It is absolutely rife everywhere you go in London. Just a Saturday night in the pub, there it is, basically in plain sight now. We already know that all these "middle class" dinner parties and cocktail events these politicians go to have it rife as well. It's actually been found in the toilets at the house of commons, so they do it at work as well. But, again, football fans are the problem. We've already got situations where if I punch somebody on the Whetstone High Road I get one punishment, but if I punch the same person on SAR after a home game I get a much more severe punishment because I'm a football fan at a football match - is this another one of those? It's either a crime or it's not a crime, being at the football shouldn't be an aggravating factor.

Most of the big rugby matches I’ve been to have been watched by people who love their drink rather than a line or two.I’ve seen England away more times than I have at Twickenham though,but there isn’t a thought of trouble in the air like you sometimes get at football.A fair portion of fans going to watch rugby also play it,so there are some big feckers around that you mess with at your peril.

I’ve not seen it at Rugby, not that I go too often. It’s just everyone getting pissed as f*ck. Fair.
Never noticed it at cricket. Again, just heavy, prolonged boozing and occasional sun stroke. Fair.
Horse racing, you are spot on. A real problem. Have pissed at urinals at the Cheltenham festival with blokes doing a line off their forearm before the first race. Cheltenham, and jumps racing has tried to tackle it. This year’s Cheltenham was better for it, but I skipped the Friday because it is the worst day for this sort of behaviour, so I may be mistaken. And regular meets at Sandown or Kempton or Newbury are usually fine.
Flat racing on the other hand. It’s unbearable. Ascot is the worst. That train from Waterloo to Ascot is the Coke express. Cheap suits. Cheap Prosecco. Lots of large pupils and loud, fast talking. And it’s the people that know nothing about racing, with two types of gamblers; the lads giving it the big in betting £2 win because they’re there for the booze and drugs, or lads giving it the big un’ betting money you know they can’t afford. The in-between stake seems to have left the game. That just exacerbates emotions depending on whether they win or lose and, when coked up, it’s far from ideal.

As well as football, me & Mrs SLM are basketball fans and go to watch Leicester Riders as much as we can.
In January they got to the British Basketball League Cup Final which was played at the NIA in Birmingham. Normal home games for the Riders are like going to a non-league game in terms of crowd size, probably average around 1,300 - 1,500 and they're one of the bigger teams in the league and there's never a hint of any unpleasantness at their home games.
Go to a cup final at the NIA where suddenly the crowd is 10,000+, lots of whom are "lads" in Birmingham for a day/night out and going to an event as a casual spectator in the meantime, and the toilet queues for the cubicles were unreal whilst the urinals were all empty. Now, whilst I didn't see anything, I don't believe in the slightest all those grown men were queuing for a poo.
Add to that the fact it was an all day event as they had the Ladies final at 12pm, a slam-dunk contest thing in the middle, then the mens game at 3.30pm and people were drinking all day, meant the crowds when leaving the venue after were quite unpleasant to be in the middle of trying to get back to the station.

Definitely agree that a clamp down is needed but the way it’s been announced seems a bit bizarre.

Yeah, had exactly the same experience on a Friday coming back from Ascot races last winter on my way to a Friday night game at LR, Luton possibly, and it was carnage.

Its rife where I live, in th pubs. It makes people really aggressive as they drink more alcohol to offset the high from the drug.
And have you tried having a conversation with someone who's on it? They are all overtly annoying. Can't shut the f*ck up and repeat themselves over and over and do not listen to anything being said back because what they have got to say is far more important even though it's bollocks and they'll not doubt regret saying it when they're eventually hung over and depressed.
It's a huge social problem. What has caused the surge in popularity of taking this drug?

It's about how a certain and fairly sizeable demographic (how you define that i really don't know) behave when on it combined with a ton of alcohol. Probably all down to plain old simple being brought up to know what's right and wrong, and that's not dependent on class.
I dabbled occasionally combined with much booze in my younger years as did many of my friends...not once did anyone feel compelled to be violent, gobby, offensive to others around us.
We were obviously spouting bollox etc and thinking we were god's gift to the dancefloor, girls etc when we clearly weren't, but never offensive.
And i suspect it's the same for most today too, it's just there is a big minority where coke just amplifies the lack of self-awareness, decency, moral compass they already had in the first place. | |

I regards to Twickenham, the big England matches, tickets are usually balloted to Rugby clubs for their specific members so there is a certain amount of accountability to who you are if you misbehave. I can't imagine for one minute any amount of illegal substances is tolerated at members only Rugby clubs. | | | |
