Viera, McBurnie, Sharp Pitch Invaders 06:12 - May 20 with 21734 viewsdavman

Jeez, the football world is f-d up again. There are laws in place for encroaching on the field of play and what happened this week explains exactly why.

Sharp had no time to react to the high vis fat cannonball attacker, who has rightly been convicted and no doubt Viera and McBurnie will get some form of punishment. But Viera and McB's "victims" will get off Scott free even though they are law breakers by just being there. Getting on the pitch is one thing, but if you act like a massive weapon when you are on there, you should have every legal order thrown at you.

Loads of people think it's just an innocent laugh pitch invading, but I'd imagine that, with the percentage of idiots that live amongst us, it is probably really frightening for both sets of players and staff. After all, no pitch invasion, no provocation and no punishment for Viera and Mr. Completescotsname.

I hope they chuck the book at Forest and Everton and threaten them with a behind closed doors game for letting that happen. Disgraceful.

Can we go out yet?

There are hundreds of Heras fencing contractors in the UK, they will install the fencing around the pitch say a day or two before a game and after the game dismantle It and take It away.

Just shut up and get on with It.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I mean, this wasn't even at the end of the game, this was during play, Eze being chased around the pitch by some fcking horribly cnty shitgibbon with a firework, while some other horrible little cnt runs past with the obligatory phone in the face for the Gram.

You cannot just pat this away with "oh it's only a minority spoiling it for everybody else".

But people can and will. There are too many "ah, they've had a hard life" types out there and "you can't punish them; that'll make them worse".

...and forget crowd control measures like Water Cannons; we don't use them any more they're inhunmane. We can't contain crowds as this will just kettle them and when they blow up it is the police's fault, not the scrotes who just couldn't sit still for half an hour or so and calm themselves.

I am as sick of these apologists as much as I am the frickin' idiots with their anti-social, anti-everything behaviour. Too many people think they know enough from reading on the Interweb, when they know jack. What is that idiot chasing Eze going to get? A ban from watching football (which may or may not stick). No fine (probably deemed that he can't afford it (even though he could buy a fckin flare) and certainly no custodial (oh, no we can't do that - prison's are overbrimming and we can't create more to put these scum away as that would take away their "human rights".

And we can't punish the prick with the phone as he's just filming, not committing any crime (apart from being on the fckin pitch).

Honestly...

Can we go out yet?

But at the risk of repeating myself, you see it everywhere now. I see it on the tube, on nights out. I play small sided football twice a week, I cannot remember the last time I got through a week without an incident in either game.

Mate, on the football thing, just jack the competitive small sided games in where you don't know who you'll be playing against. Just set up a regular session with people you know and trust not to be dicks and set up a friendly game every week.

It a'int worth the trouble. Spend your time playing football, taking the pss out of your mates and them doing the same to you. Laugh whilst playing; forget the competitive shite. Get the right people and you won't regret it.

While it does not happen as the levels we have in the UK, here is an example of a pitch invasion 'taken out' in the US.

Note the term "brutally attacked" by the headline grabbing trash, when why was she on the pitch in the first place.

well, I saw FCIOM win the NWCD1 cup, or some such thing, on saturday. Full house, no pitch invasion. How? Because it was the most boring game I have ever seen. 1-0 up, and I'm worried the opposition will score, not because it would deny us the cup, but because it would extend the game for another half hour. Full time whistle goes, and we all ran in the opposite direction of the pitch. Maybe this is the way forward - worked in the FA cup final as well.

On street violence - a few years ago, we had big problems over here with trouble in pubs and night clubs, particularly in the capital, where people from round the island will tend to go on a friday and saturday night. Douglas's statistics were awful in comparison to similar sized towns in England. So they targetted the nightlife, not renewing licenses etc for places that were having problems. Now it's pretty quiet, but there's nowhere to go, the young leave in bigger numbers then before. And talking to a copper the other day, he reckons it's gone from the streets, and into the home, where it's so much harder to control.

So the answer? Maybe there isn't one, but education must be the key, starting at home. Make a fairer society (!). And stop this constant glorification of violence. But I suppose, with the forms of social media, the cats out of the bag there. So our only, quick solution is a police state and deterrents in the form of the creation of a social currency, see the CCP for details. Which is deeply disturbing, and not a world I want to live in.

Or, to put it briefly, dunno.

I think we should be thanking our stars it was not the end of the game because that looked very dangerous for Eze.That wan*er realized he was in open space and probably clear on CCTV so he backed off, and Eze had the room to dodge the pri*k .Imagine the full invasion at the end with that mob mentality he could have been trapped and Christ knows what could happen.
The FA need to start taking the safety of players serious today

It's simply a fashion, it's what people do. The problem is it will carry on escalating unless it's curbed, because that's also what people do. When I was a teenager it was the fashion for mobs of away fans to rampage through town centres before a game, terrorising ordinary people out and about doing Saturday shopping .

I'm intrigued/worried about where it goes from here.
It'll be fine for a while now, all the games where it happens are done, but I think we're very lucky somebody hasn't been properly hurt this week - that McGurdy twt that plays for Swindon was lucky to get off that pitch with his face intact the other night.

Add these unruly and potentially dangerous incidents to the increase in drug taking and increases in ticket prices and travelling costs and diminishing disposable income and you have a recipe for reduced ticket sales and attendances in the future.

To be fair, it's not being patted away. Perpetrators are being caught, banned and fined/jailed.

If the FA don't do something about it, the players may well do something about it themselves by refusing to play in front of crowds until it's sorted

Haven't waded through this whole thread, but the saddest thing for me is that I can remember fans going onto the pitch at HQ on final home game of the season (e.g, if I remember right, end of 99-2000) and it being joyous occasion, no aggro, just fans happy to be celebrating on a sunny day.

Seems we've got to the state where people can't be happy about the success of their own club without going and sticking two fingers up to opposing players/coaches, and not even against clubs where there's any history of bad feeling.

People behave in ways that if you did it to some random bloke in a pub would undoubtedly get you a smack in the face, but because the other guy's employed by a football club somehow it's supposed to be OK and the player will get a fine if he reacts - it's completely hypocrisy.

Back in the early 90s we always went on the pitch last game of the season and the players used to come out in the South Africa Road stand to say thank you for the season's support. It was wonderful being allowed onto the pitch. I don't remember any trouble back then, but perhaps I am looking back with rose tinted glasses

looking at the Eze video, palace would have been well within their rights to refuse to continue the game, maybe should have. That was intimidation of a player/players on the pitch, before the final whistle.
