Fair play.

I’ve been critical of the club and his role, wondering why and how things that don’t make sense to me have happened.

Still don’t agree with MW going, but can’t fault the thinking or process in identifying his replacement.

A very good forthright statement, maybe the best yet from LF. Particularly on the hiring process, and what the club expects from a head coach.

That’s a good piece from Sir Les. Managing to be both sobering and inspiring and above all straightforward.

When he says, ”With the club looking to develop players, play an entertaining style of football and also make QPR a success on the pitch, some 24 individuals were initially identified”, I’d love to know who the 24 all were and see them lined up like the Sgt. Pepper’s LP cover.

It frustrates me that so many people wilfully ignore the P&S/FFP rules restrict what we can spend so it must drive him up the bloody wall.

So can you explain to me why Nottingham Forest are allowed to buy who they want but we can't?

Yes. Rightly or wrongly, they have brought in millions of quid in transfer fees from clubs (potentially also owned or closely linked to) their own chairman, for bang average players. They also bring in far more money than we do, having a stadium that holds nearly 30k.

Well The City Ground is night and day from Loftus Road with regards attendances and revenue, but fundamentally it's transfer fees received.

I'm not promising it's all legit - 16 separate transactions with Olympiakos majority of them 'undisclosed fee' over the last five years probably helps, and they've had a helpful visit to the laundry at Almeria - but in the time that we've sold Smithies, Freeman, Luongo, Furlong and Eze they've sold...

Matty Cash £14m
Arvin Appiah £8m
Ben Osborn £3m
Ben Brereton £7.5m
Britt Assombalonga £15m
Oliver Burke £14m
Henri Lansbury £4m
Michail Antonio £9m
Lascelles/Darlow - £9m joint deal

This is why I keep banging on about selling players. We have to, have to, get a conveyer belt going where we are getting north of £8m for a player every 18 months. It takes away all the FFP pressure and gives you money to reinvest in four or five others. No surprise that the best season we've had since we came out the Prem most recently came after getting £20m for our best player.

Scout well, recruit well, develop well, sell, lather rinse repeat. Over and over again. Really regularly.

Profit and Sustainability Rules. It's what the FFP rules are actually called in the EFL. They've rebadged it you fool etc etc.

Thanks Clive. Yeh I get it (mostly through reading your articles) but it's complicated. We can't always expect casual fans to understand.

Hope you have a great summer :)

It's a long read but Swiss Ramble sheds some light in 2021. Essentially more revenue and more player sales as mentioned above.

People won't like this, but on the Forest comparison, the fact that we have a stadium which means we structurally lose money on staging football matches is a bit of an issue when it means we are having to pedal like mad just to stay within the rules, let alone break even.

Eventually something is going to have to be done about our home. I don't like it either, but there it is.

Thanks for that, I enjoyed reading it. I particularly liked :

“In years gone by, we may have been contacted about speaking to certain managers, and interviewed them as a result. However, now, we identify who we’re after and won’t speak to anyone who isn’t where we need to be as a result.”

Will our attendance go up though? I’m not so sure.

They'll go up if we introduce ourselves as 'The QPR Experience' and spike the Bovril with LSD.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I like to wind up people on FB every time I read about the board being millionaires and lacking ambition by reminding them of this. It doesn't seem to get through their noodles though, no matter how many times I say it.

I think it's more that it would cost less to run than the current stadium which is no longer fit for purpose. But also it's not suitable for corporate events or corporate entertainment, which other clubs offer in their stadiums, and make money from.

But also we don't get returning casual visitors because it's not a great visitors' experience with uncomfortable seating and other facilities not being adequate. I think Lee Hoos mentioned this as an issue that so few people return who aren't actual fans of the club or of our opponents.

It would help though if Hoos did better at selling things to people who are willing to pay in the first place!

Yes it will.

When a club own a bigger newer stadium, attendance usually goes up. The trick is to keep it there, which most clubs do (not all though).

We have proven we can fill a larger stadium. In the playoff final against Derby we had just over half the stadium, yes that's right we had MORE fans than Derby!

But people won't come to a shite stadium and spend all that money to be treated like cattle. They would fly in a circle with Ryan Air if they wanted that.

Build it correctly and they will come. It's time, it's an opportunity. That Bus Stop down the road managed it, we can too. Stop arguing if it should be done and start arguing the best way it should be done.

The new training ground and academy is going to be massive for us long term in my view.

zzzzzzzzzz

Absolutely. Hoos has spoken about the difficulties of trying to generate revenue from Loftus Road on days which aren't match days.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
