You know what, that's a great video.

I didn't get much from the tune though. It's a bit pedestrian. It's weird because I don't mind the Stones but their best song is so much better than all their other songs.

I'm a bit hacked off that they've recorded an album without offering me some session work.

At the risk of being controversial, I saw the clip of them being interviewed on stage and just thought how embarrassing they looked. I don't really understand why bands spoil their legacies by going on too long.

Interesting ... Ali went on to long and it was terrible to watch, Tiger Woods hobbling around a golf course is not nice to see, and its always sad watching your favourite footy player sliding down the leagues and ending up in the Vanarama National League.
But I don't mind seeing these ageing Rock Stars still playing live ... What the heck, they must still get a massive buzz playing in front of close to 100,000 people ...
If I could at their age I definitely would!

Can’t beat Keef on the open G. Trademark Stones. Great delivery from Mick too. I enjoyed the production - lots of space. Found the verses a bit meh. Strangely enough, maybe as much in sentiment, it put me in mind of this early Pistols song (first one they ever wrote?)

Very interesting post there Rs_Holy and I agree on the music side .
Having just watched Bruce Springsteen deliver a poweful show in Iconic Wrigley Field (before Covid / Peptic Ulcers took him out for a while ) its just a flashback to their younger days people crave .
Its the same for band touring who was around in the 60s 70s 80s the fans were young ,single ,in love and drove pieces of junk to their shows .
Now the fans are retired with families raised and drive beautiful expensive cars .They went through their lives not as financially successful as the band of course but at a normal level and every time their heros tour they go back in time with them.

The bitter downside apart from the ticket prices and food parking etc is the amount of music stars moving on to the Promised Land every year as time and lifestyle catches up with them.
How is Kieth Richards still alive one of life mysteries haha

... you listen to your doctor intently ... cut down on the booze, fags, late nights etc in an attempt to pre-long things a bit ... then you look at Keith Richards and realise its all a bloody lottery really, isn't it?

If you can still do it, carry on. When I last saw them in 2018 put on a great show. To me with all these fantastic heritage rock acts a lot depends mainly on whether the lead singer live can still hit the tune, if not then sometimes best to give it a miss and not spoil the memory. Last year could not face seeing Roxy Music even though had tickets after a hiatus of over 10 years after I caught a preview of Bryan Ferry murdering his great songs at a recent gig on You Tube, decided to sell the tickets and remember the previous time we saw them years before.

Agree about can the singer still hold a tune. Recently saw the cure and he sounded great. As a contrast was going to see the sisters of mercy but after going on you tube decided against it after witnessing Eldritchs voice and the LA soft rock posturing side kicks he had with him.

Bunnymen the same with Mcullochs voice, a shame no doubt so best to remember earlier encounters.

Good luck to them. Last great album was Some girls in 1978.

Think they've all pretty much given up drinking.

This song should be on the "best intros" thread
and
the "best live performance" thread

New single doesn't do It for me (yet).

The stones are and forever will be the greatest band In the world, absolute legends one and all.

I recall one of Jaggers daughters being interviewed Years ago by some music journo, he asked her why her Dad kept recording and touring and she looked at him oddly and replied, "because he likes It" and that sums up the Stones for me.

I can't do the masterful Intro to ''Gimme Shelter" but I can listen to It all day long no Problem.

War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

As Ozzy Osbourne said, when you get to that age, you have to have something to get out of bed for.
