A very perceptive person that was Brian. Deserves applause. I was completely bamboozled by him.
Part of it was that we really needed it to work. And he managed to portray his bullsh*t with such apparent sincerity.
What amazes me though is people are still falling for it (much less the fans though). We at least had the excuse of not being able to see a management record for him. People saw what happened here and people don't like that sort of thing.
It needed to go well for him at Rangers, and it hasn't.
So now you've got the perception that you're not only full of sht, but also perhaps not even that good.
I guess if you get a chance to take a job like Sunderland you're not going to turn it down, and with his ego he's certainly not going to turn it down. Who knows he could easily turn it around - they're still a win away from the play-offs, he could get them promoted FFS.
Can't help but thinking a better option for him at this stage would have been a much lower profile, lower key job in the division below - Charlton, for example - build something good there over a period of time and re-establish the reputation. |  | | |

The trouble with Beale was that we were probably gaslit by him, me included, it all changed when he got that comeback draw at Sunderland and then a magnificent 3-2 win at Watford. But it all started going ropey on the field at the Luton game where we got exposed as a weak team and that has just continued for the last 15 months or so. Personally his tenure and departure at QPR has destabilised the club to such an extent that the ramifications are still there for all to see on the pitch. Suspect he will most likely fail at Sunderland as his bluffing will just get worse and they will ditch him. |  | | |

For those that enjoy a bit of sadism ( don't we all ?) a visit to a few of the Sunderland forums is well worth a visit.
In brief the majority that post there hate him already.
Some of it's personal - apparently he has a mole, speaks in a language none of them can understand and has a paunch, exacerbated by a tendency to wear a track suit.
And thats the good stuff......
elsewhere they've already spotted a nasty trait of dumping responsibility on others, nothing sticks and a lack of game management, subs/game plan etc
that coupled with team selection and a distinct inability to get a tune out of any of the players he decides to pick means he doesn't look good.
His first game left supporters totally dumbfounded as he apparently chose to just stand on the touchline and look at it all collapse around him rather than change anything.

He's good at the auld media though is Beale, his first interview in the Sunderland gig he said:
"The thing that I’m really comfortable here is the alignment through the club, my role being in line with that as a head coach and having an opinion and an idea on other aspects of the club, but I want to be the coach of the team, not the manager of the whole football club."
So head coach - same as his role here - although inexplicably, we signed a bunch of players he wanted. And there's the lack of accountability - you can't pin poor recrrecruitment on him because he's just "head coach" but if his "opinions and ideas on other aspects of the club" (recruitment) aren't taken on board, his hands are tied. |  | | |
