Realistic signings everyone would target? 21:42 - May 13 with 4246 viewssdm19994

Realistic transfer targets that people are thinking this summer? My thoughts below.. obviously financing/transfers out permitting..

Johannson (Rotherham)
Heilik (Hudds)
Hayden
Davis Keillor-Dunne (Mansfield)
Rudoni (Hudds)
Poku (Peterborough)
Langstaff (Notts County)
Al-Hamidi (Ipswich loan)

Seriously should be looking at Langstaff. He's a goal machine like Austin and still only 27. Big step up but her is an outstanding goalscorer.

Never knowingly right.

Should have added pay cut permitting regarding Hayden but seems to fancy coming here so it’s a possibility..

I’ve been enjoying this blog, which has some great suggestions for potential targets across a number of different positions:

Surely an obvious place for us to go shopping is in the 3 squads going up. A lot of them won’t get a game in the Prem but are still good championship level players. Steve Cook a perfect example.

Would hope we’re at least aware of the Crawley goalkeeper. The sort of stats the stats bods tend to love and he makes Dieng look like Ronnie Corbett.

Rudoni would be a good signing. He gave one of the best individual performances I saw at Loftus Road this season. Also it would give Clive the opportunity to roll out his “typical QPR signing could have had him for a fraction of the price when he was playing down the road at Wimbledon” routine.

Another good performer at Loftus Road was Jamie Allen of Coventry. One year on his contract and they mentioned in the commentary the other week that he might be moving on. 29 now so not a youngster and only managed 1 goal and 1 assist this season. Both against us.

I suspect we won’t sign either of these players and tbh I hope that the Rangers scouting network extends a bit beyond the scope of ‘looked quite good from R block this season’.

Another name I hear mentioned a lot is Alfie May who had another prolific season in League 1 this time with Charlton. Will be 31 at the start of next season but like Jamie Allen might be worth a look at the right price. Although there must be a reason why nobody has taken a chance with him at Championship level before this.

Max Dean from MK Dons?

Yep, I like this guy too. It will be interesting to see if the club shows interest in or signs any of his recommendations.

Arthur Okonkwo - GK Arsenal. Incredible loan at Wrexham.
Sorba Thomas - Huddersfield. Was fantastic at our place.
Robbie Brady - PNE. Only decent PNE player at our place. Great distribution.

If Chair and/or Willock goes I’d like Sorba Thomas. From London, good age, seemed to carry that Hudds team on his own (much like Chair) at times.

I’m a bit wary of relegated players but for him and Rudoni I’d make an exception. Not sure about the Rotherham goalkeeper but everyone insists he’s a top player and will go somewhere bigger than us. Can’t say I’ve seen it when he’s played us or I’ve seen them on the box.

Colby Bishop at Portsmouth?

Scored 20 goals for them last season and again this season in League 1.
27 years old. 1 year left on contract?

Is Hayden realistic??

Think Clive mentioned in one of his brilliant previews/oppo focus that whilst Johanson is a great keeper playing out from the back is not one of his strong points?

Based on what I've seen of him, he'd be competition for Jimmy Dunne at Right back!

There's certainly plenty of young players (esp u21) in lower and foreign leagues that fit the profiles we need, but that fly under fans' radar - that's what analytic departments are for

Maybe with Nourry at the helm we are taking more notice of Andy Belk (and not trumping them with the owners favourites)

Sorba Thomas and Jack Rudoni great shouts. I can’t see Pompey selling Bishop having just got promoted. The Rotherham goalkeeper has a reputed £900k buy out and plenty of clubs circling so that could be difficult. I watched both legs of the Crewe v Mk play off 🤞that MK wouldn’t get through so was delighted to see them thrashed 8-1 on aggregate. Crewe were very impressive, their goalie Addai is an absolute beast, would give you plenty of heart attacks, virtually playing as an outfield left back. He saved a penalty and according to the commentator is out of contract at the end of this season. At 26 he could be worth a punt, maybe sharing duties with Walsh. The star man over the two legs was Liam Kelly who absolutely run midfield. Remember him starting at Reading and being very impressed but his career seemed to stall but he was excellent and still only 28. Having said all this I think this thread will be largely irrelevant because I suspect most of our signings will be players from abroad who we’ve never heard of.

Klaidi Lolos is the one I'd have from Crawley by the way. If not us, I could see someone around us take a speculative punt on him to find out what his level is.

But yeah, I'm expecting a lot of 'unknown' signings of the Paal or Andersen type that the recruitment have flagged and will fit a joined up style that MC is cultivating. But who knows, its all part of the 'fun' isn't it.

Very wary after the experience with Jordan Cousins that we sign anyone who 'looked good against us'.
I want never to have heard of any of our signings.

Bare bones.

Arguably that's not worked since John Byrne
