I cannot believe anybody rates this guy.

He's a total embarrassment under crosses, he's too small and I'm not sure he can even jump.

He is CLEARLY not a viable goalkeeper.

It's a shame, as him aside, we were looking quite good. But you can't win games consistently with a bad goalkeeper - and Walsh is a bad keeper.

Sadly none of our three keepers are good enough and it should have been addressed in the window.

Agree. The guy is a bag of nerves. Every successful side needs a solid keeper. Look when we had Paddy Kenny in goal. It gives confidence to the whole side. He’s not any better than Nardi who is weak as well. We have 3 poor keepers. We need to buy a proper keeper in the summer. This season is over. Gutted for our fans down there tonight.

With you on this every step of the way.

Unfortunately it’s obvious Nourry saw some metrics bollox so Walsh gets the nod despite being the worst of the three and needing to learn his trade at a lower level and move up gradually. He’s sort of finished at this level for a long time now.
His shop window has basically shown him to be worth feck all

The club has effectively ruined two careers of two keepers this season

All roads lead back to the doors of Nourry and the Frenchman

He's looked a lot better since he came back, before today. But 100% with you L Block that this is not the way to develop a keeper and it's hubris to assume that it was. Mostly I feel bad for Walsh who could have had a promising career if handled better

Walsh needed a loan this season to get experience without impacting his progress.

Cooper had a season on loan last season. He should have been with the club and starting a few games for us here, perhaps.

Strange way of working to the performance model development. But there you have it !!!

He looks what I describe as a “playground keeper”.

Will throw himself in and pulls off the occasional eye catching save

However, is he cool, calm and collected enough to make the right decisions at key moments?
Can he concentrate for the whole game?
Does he control and communicate to the outfield players as game is going on?
Is he all that with a presence?
If the answer to those is yes then he’s a keeper who’ll earn you 9 to 12 points a season

Walsh ticks none of the boxes for me.
The second goal is totally on him and, conceded by it how and at the time he did, it’s the game killer.
The palm out I’d also blame him but with a bit of luck it doesn’t drop as plum to their man. The 4th is as unforgivable as the 2nd…. total Weetabix hands there
(If you want to be harsh then his positioning for the first not good)

Don’t want to start a pile on here but it’s Joe Lumley all over again . He’s costing us goals and lots of them .
In fairness the rest of them weren’t much better

Truly disastrous that a club can have three goalkeepers in one season, all as bad as each other - with our best goalkeeper out on loan at another Championship club - and (guess what) is injured.

I thought he was a key player against Hull. He could have done better tonight with the goals but the discussion with Mackie and Austin on the sky analysis was not about the keeper, he was exposed time and time again in that game from rank defending from the defence and the team as a whole. Wrong scapegoat IMHO

Nardi was better.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Walsh doesn't look instinctive to me. It all looks like it's programmed. Nardi was much more on it. He goes with the game.

Granted he had a dismal game tonight and I’m not sure he’s ever going to be the goalkeeper the club hopes he’ll become but he’s nowhere near top of my list of players I’m pissed off about from that. More of a concern how he bounces back on Saturday as that may have set him back after making some good progress since he came back.

Give me Walsh over big money and/or senior players in Hayden and Saito.

Walsh on 04:32 - Feb 25 with 2264 viewsQPROslo

When Nardi got back in for 2 or 3 games he seemed to do well, including doing better coming out of his box and even penalty area to collect balls. Then suddenly he was teft out again. I think he's the best of the 3 Keepers we've played this season and would be saving some of the efforts Walsh and Hamer concede.

To me, the way in which Walsh was earmarked as our number one goalkeeper this season says everything about the current regime.

He's patently not good enough. Yes, he might improve but he should have been sent on loan to see whether he did.

To play someone simply because he's young in such a critical position is such a colossal error that it defies belief. Nourry is an arrogant person; you don't get to be in his position at his age without having that trait, but hubris is a vengeful beast.

The organisational structure at the club means that when Nourry makes a call like this, Stephan has to accept it, just like the Ben Williams call. Brentford would never have made Walsh their number one, not this season, not a decade ago. He was an unproven hunch, in arguably the most important position on the pitch. Meanwhile, Nardi spends the entire season picking up a wage we can ill afford because Nourry expects him to disappear when he's told to. Worrying.

Walsh has proven that he has the skills to make it at this level, imho.

I don't know anyone who thinks he wouldn't have been better served with a loan this season, though.

I had high hopes for Walsh especially after that cameo game at Coventry a couple of seasons back
I agree with the poster who said he hasn’t been handled right because he should of been on loan last year instead of collecting splinters on his arris
We are not going down or up and it serves no purpose in playing Hamer
I would play him until the end of the season and go from there

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I knew a few of his away performances would be thrown out there in his defence. But you’re missing the point.

A game where you throw yourself in with starfish saves in one on ones and the ball hits you, does not make a good keeper.

Good goalkeepers have command of their area and do the basics well. Number one on that is command of aerial balls. Walsh is beyond abysmal at that.

But you also need to not make mistakes and make the simple over and over again shot stopping diving saves that means a finish has to be a really good one to beat you.

Walsh, as he showed last night, fails at that too.

And it’s not experience. He’s just not a good goalkeeper.

It’s clear this manager is being influenced by the Boy Nourry it’s embarrassing. He’s best buddy Ben Williams has obviously shown some rubbish stats on his Apple Mac. I feel for Stephan I really do.

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

I see a lot of certainty on here. Maybe it's just me but I don't feel ready to say he's a terrible keeper.

He had a terrible night, no doubt about that, but he'd been playing well in recent games, and I liked his efforts at quicker distribution in the last 2 or 3 games, thought that was also improving.

So many other players looked lethargic, not tracking runners, not blocking shots or crosses, not winning headers, not able to pass to a team mate. They started off ok (apart from the first which looked like Madsen should have done more to block) and after 30 mins they're done.

Walsh's errors were obviously fatal but I think they were the difference between probably a 2-0 loss and what it was.

I see the conditioning as a far bigger issue in terms of being able to at least compete with energy regardless of who you're up against, and avoiding losing most of your starting 11 over the course of a season.

No probs Brian! May well deserve a downvote anyway.

I did think signing Saito was a good idea. But the player who got the byline and was devastating in one on ones has disappeared.

So that has proven to a totally bad call.

Could be calling Walsh wrong too but I’ve seen enough Jurgen Sommers in my time to know and dud GK when I see one.

I’d need to see it on a tape measure with my own eyes.
