Player points per game 10:54 - May 8 with 3301 viewsdavman

Stats work when they fit your narrative..

That seems really telling to me.
Even if Gray did end up as top scorer, did he work out?

Can we go out yet?
Poll: What would you take for Willock if a bid comes this month?

I see that as something of a nonsense, too many other factors

Those stats might make sense if taken over a much longer period/number of performances

for example how many games did Sanderson and Hendrick play when Willock and Dieng started games

awful lot of briefing and spin going on, history. particularly recent history is generally written by the victors

Minutes per goal is an accepted measure of the most important part of a striker's job.

Gray - 10 goals - 140 mins/goal
Dykes - 9 goals - 305 mins/goal
Austin - 7 goals - 260 mins/goal

Chair - 9 - 384
Willock - 7 - 432
Amos - 6 - 259

(Source - BBC)

Arguably if Gray had been our number one striker and Dykes had spent the season warming the bench we would have scored plenty more goals and now be in the playoffs.
Moneyball.

Six of Gray's goals earned the team an extra 11 points so I think those stats are a tad misleading.

Reading 1 pt extra
Cardiff 2 pts
Derby 2 pts
Coventry 2 pts
Luton 2 pts
Swansea 2 pts

You should include assists as that is a proper look at goals.

If a player scores zero goals but gets you 40 assists a season then that player is world-class.

I suspect if that is included, Chair and Willock are much higher. And now the stats begin to make sense.

zzzzzzzzzz

Nobody gets an assist if the striker can't be in the right place and put it in the net.

I’d definitely have Gray back next season if the financials were right: natural goalscorer and done well for us IMO.

And the striker doesn't get a goal unless someone has put the ball in the right place for him!

I know this is very harsh, but shouldn't Mahoney be at the top (bottom?) of that list with 0?

Honest question: Was Westwood at fault for any goals?

I can't remember any but then perhaps I haven't been paying attention.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I still maintain if Seny hadn't of got injured we would of made the play offs

Actually, it wasn't!

It was about points per game when people played. It was you that tried to turn it into a Andre Gray thread.

BTW, I think his goals per minute ratio is good.

I don't think it's a huge shock to see players who were only here for the second half of the season have a lower points per game average than some who played more in the first half of the season, It's interesting to see, at one point Wallace and Adomah were on 2 points per game which was superb

Two out of the five of them have been here all season and one was inexplicably voted Young Player of the Season even though he's not ours!

Amen to that.
Lazy as fck, but scores goals. Regularly.
Out of contract at Watford but there will be plenty offering more than we can

Will there?
Unfit for the entire, can't press, flounces about when doesn't get a pass.
Very much doubt there'll be a queue offering him big bucks.
Good sub, but almost every game i saw him start he was anonymous.

Bare bones.

Oh I see now.
When the OP poses the question "Even if Gray did end up as top scorer, did he work out?" he didn't mean anyone to mention Gray or come up with better ways of measuring his contribution than points per game.
Fair enough.

All this. I can't say I blame Warbs for not playing him more often/for whole matches. He really couldn't because he was a liability apart from the goals. We always looked like we were playing with ten men when he was playing.

no, but he and the other keepers at the club 'invite' more pressure then Dieng simply by the fact that they don't control the area as well as the latter does. Derby were dropping balls on the edge of the 6 yard box - that doesn't happen if Dieng is there.
