Matchbox Motorised Motorway?? Eh up lad, you were lucky! We made do with offcuts my grandad brought from the wood yard and used them to create cities in which we'd drive our matchbox cars. I used to dream of owning a Scalextric race track. But then one blessed Xmas our ma bought us a Mattel Hot Wheels loop the loop thing where you fired the cars out of a kind of gun that you cocked by pulling back a long trigger. Loved it.

You just reminded me - I used to fix this to our ironing board to get max revs.
Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Great thread. I had a matchbox motorway but it turned out to be a poor substitution for a scalextrix set as there was no racing involved. The cars just went round the track in a fixed place.
My favourite has to be Casdon Soccer. Brilliant game that I managed to pick up again for peanuts on e-bay a few years back to play with my lads. As endorsed by the highly coiffured Charlton.

Subbeteo was top toy. Many and hour arguing with the boys I still go to football with. We had leagues and cups with 2 teams each so 16 in all. Down in mums kitchen in Goodwin road on a Sunday night when dad was down the Kent house club. Happy days
I don't remember any toys much growing up except this one. As I approached my teenage years I bought my own Airfix planes and corgi cars from money earned doing chores but I suppose that because there were a lot of us, toys were few and far between.

Best toy ever, you could kick it throw it, eat it, get dirty, black up for commando games, keep it in your pocket have it as a pet, set it on fire. endless joy and possibilities, no batteries required.

Definitely agree with the soccer game.Best one ever.I even replaced the first one after it broke. We had subueto football, rugby and cricket.I think the rugby got played once, the cricket about 3 times, but the football was good.

Hooked on subbuteo ever since I got the 1970 World Cup Edition for Christmas. Presumably today's version has VAR to check whether or not players have been flicked or steered !
