After a pretty shaky start probably due to him not speaking any English at all, he soon settled and personally I thought for two seasons (second half 90/91, 91/92 and first half 92/93) he was superb.
It started to unravel for him when he had that absolute nightmare at home to Crystal Palace just before Christmas '92 when we lost 3-1. I think Gerry never completely trusted him after that hence why in the second half of that season we had to endure Coco the Clown in goal. IMO, that and Super Ray's injury slightly derailed that season, we could have quite easily finished 3rd I think.
He still had a few high points (Newcastle away) after that but it was odds on that Gerry would look for a new keeper after the 93/94 season plus he wanted to return home to the Czech Republic as well. [Post edited 4 Oct 2022 12:59]

Those four are easy as they were best in players in each area of the team. The fifth one is very difficult but I think I'll go with Alan McDonald, with Danny Maddix on the bench. |  |

I only really started watching QPR regularly from the second half of 98/99 onwards so my selection is much more limited (and much crapper, on the whole), so to bring some different names into the equation from players I actually watched I will go with:-

No, I feel the same. Time seems to have been kind to his legacy perhaps because QPR fans were starved of decent keepers during the 90s. |  | | |

After Stejskal’s penalty save at Newcastle he goes straight to legend status. But I agree he had a shaky start.

Wilkins-simply brilliant
