Queens Park Hotspur 13:47 - Apr 18 with 2815 viewsterryb

Following on from the manure & Cottagers played for both clubs thread, I give you some names for this combination:-

Radek Cerny

Kyle Walker
Grant Hall
Terry Fenwick
Clive Wilson

Terry Venables
Ossie Ardiiles (on his pre Rangers ability)
Andy Sinton

Adel Taarabt
Clive Allen
Les Ferdinand

Subs would include Chris Day, Les Allen, Frank Saul but NOT Stephen Caulker!

Allen would obviously come on for Allen as the two don't talk to each other!

I'm sure there are alternatives to Grant Hall, but they are not coming to mind at the present!

Strong line up there terryb. I’d like to see Roger Morgan involved. Have no idea if he succeeded at Spuds but a ledge in W12.

I was going to say not that I’ve ever seen him in action but I was surprised (and delighted) when I noticed while playing in a 5 a side game at the Spurs ground years ago the two match officials were the Morgan twins.

A little Radek Cerny story - many years ago my young son and I were watching him warm up in front of the Loft. My son called him over for an autograph and as Cerny made his way over he was called to the School End to carry on warming up and couldn’t sign. About ten minutes later, just before going to the dressing room for the pre match team talk, he ran from the School End to the Loft, picked out my son and signed his programme - Cerny 24, and he was very happy to do it.

Good man.

Kerslake, Morgan & Falco.

All worthy of squad places, but who would you leave out of my selections for them?

Obviously Gerry would be the manager as TV is playing!

Maddix would stroll on to that team.

I think you have everyone else, Terry. Good team.

If we’re having loan players like Kyle Walker, why not Andros Townsend?

I'd forgotten about him!

IMO he wouldn't replace my midfield or front men though!

If we don't have any loan players then Hall might be back in at right back!

Jermaine Jenas and Sandro are a couple more players, way passed their prime who were signed anyway.

How did nobody mention Niko? He followed 'Arry everywhere.

Assou-Ekotto divided a few opinions. When he was good, he was very good. When he couldn't be bothered, it was too obvious.

Bobby Zamora played for Spurs too.

Tom Carroll was given the iconic #10 shirt for some inexplicable reason, while on loan with us.

no one has mentioned Steve Slade........

0 goals in 23 games for Spurs
6 goals in 69 appearances for us

in his career he scored 13 goals in 132 appearances at club level

funnily enough for England Under 21's he scored 3 goals in 4 games

Apologies if I've missed him but Wayne Routledge is worth a mention.

Rohan Ricketts! A small cog in John Gregory’s 2007 relegation-avoiding machine. His wiki page is worth a read. Like a cross between Richard Pacquette & Phileas Fogg.

Clive Bradley White (Middlesex) The referee that overruled the linesman to disallow Gary Micklewhite’s equaliser in the ‘82 Cup Final. It came out later he used to train with Spurs. And then the FA dropped him after he was found guilty of deception. Does anyone know anything more specific about this? And has any more evidence emerged in the preceding years? - a Bill Nicholson tattoo on his arse perhaps.

I never knew any of that. You've now wound me up about a game I was at 38 years ago.

And don't forget how he obstructed Gary Waddock to allow Hoddle to score his goal in the first game!

Waddock didn't give him a sniff of the ball until White stepped in!
