Virgin Atlantic is not essential. If they crash, the Heathrow slots they hold will revert back to the government and they can be auctioned off to another airline. Chances are Delta Airlines will buy the company for a pittance and take over the slots. |  | | |

BA now in big trouble in public saying they may need to cut up to 25% of their workforce.
They have made proposals to their staff that in order to protect jobs they need to make sweeping changes to everyone's terms and conditions and no doubt pay will come into it as well.
They obviously have a problem, will be probably be retiring older aircraft and downsizing their operation but no doubt will also be using it to make cost reductions that they have long wanted to make.

it's not just about replacing their flights, it's the number of staff they have out of work and the number of British companies they use to supply them which will no longer be needed |  | | |
