Point of Information: There has never been a "County Derry".
The town was originally "Derry", in the County of Coleraine, the system of county administration being an English introduction.
Then in 1613, in recognition of massive investment in the area by the London Livery Companies, James 1 of England (VI of Scotland) issued a Royal Charter renaming the town "Londonderry" and scrapping the County of Coleraine, while creating the new "County Londonderry" - distinct legal entities to this day.
You may recognise or reject this as you wish, but either way I don't care - I was still moderately pleased with my "London Derryvan". | | | |
