Looking like Huddersfield (17 games unbeaten is it?) or Bournemouth for auto and Blackburn, Middlesbrough and probably Sheff Utd filling the other playoff places. Carry on like this and we'll do well to even improve on last season's finish.

Yes season has caught up with us. Still beat Luton Sheff Utd twice and NF we might get a chance!

Warburton’s worst HT and half since he’s been here. The mentality, tactics, and subs have been utterly stupid and wrong.

Yep. He won't be able to hide from this one. Players need to look at themselves too, they seem incapable of turning this slump around; and at the end of the day... only they can.

So, so frustrating to dominate a game, look much better than we have recently, and still lose because of crap refereeing.

It would be a real shame not to at least improve on last season's 9th place - but it's looking dodgy right now.

Poor darlings are tired, leggy, overworked.

Feckin toblerone shyte, no one to run and get in apart from Albert 10 minutes from time.

Shyte on a stick! simple.

But not to worry, in Warburton we trust.......but should we totally trust now?

It's not good, and we've brought it on ourselves.

We over complicate our football, need a hundred passes to score.

Me thinks, Warburton needs to change our style a bit, and be a bit more direct ?

Can't keep blaming bad officials.Sounds like we brought this on ourselves today. Go 2 up and we win. The longer it went without the killer goal, we were always likely to feck up given our recent form. Onto the next one.

Agreed. I've got a lot of time for Warburton but he's got it horribly wrong the last 2 games. The approach was wrong at Blackburn and again today in the second half. Rather than continue with what worked well in the first half, QPR went into their shell in the second, content to just pass the ball around the back. Morisson saw this and introduced someone in the hole to mix things up. Warburton didn't react and QPR were caught out. Once it went to 1-1, QPR didn't reset and started playing into Cardiff's hands by engaging in bitty football. Yes, there were mitigating circumstances with the tug on Dickie but you have to ask yourself would Alan Macdonald have gone down under that challenge?

In short, QPR brought it on themselves by approaching the second half with caution instead of showing the courage to keep playing their football. Warburton's got a massive task on now to arrest the slide and instil some confidence back into the team for what is an incredibly difficult run-in.

That dross you mention just turned us over in our own back yard.

QPR didn't have a match in midweek and had a whole week to recover and prepare for this game. Legs weren't the issue today and anyone pretending otherwise is deluding themselves.

FT REPORT
QPR 1 Cardiff 2
Is this the end of the road — chasing that top 6 place?
It feels that way.
We dominated this match for 70 minutes — 71% possession in fact — not just sideways and backwards — but forwards with nice attacks into the opposition half.
We should have won. We should have taken all three points.
To have so much good possession and then to lose is gut-wrenching.
It was Gray - taking advantage of a poor Cardiff clearance — that hammered us into a deserved lead 7 minutes before half-time.
But as we all know 1-nil is never enough.
We had chances. Gray - after a splendid defence-splitting pass from Willock — had a second half opportunity to add to his tally but his first time shot went wide.
And then those two conceded goals in just a 4-minute spell - against a very average side — spelt the end. From 1-nil up we went quickly to 2-1 down.
This was a bitter defeat.
Dickie was nudged in the back — fell over — plenty of space for Cardiff and Davis hit a hard shot at Marshall.
It looked like the keeper had made a miraculous save but the ball went over the line.
Then a Colwill free-kick from the edge of the box made it 2-1.
From that moment there was little fight back. We really fell apart.
Confidence drained into the sewer.
It ends our run of being unbeaten in our last 6 home games.
We’ve won only 1 of our last 7 Championship matches.
This is going to hit our players hard.
As fans — it feels like we’ve been struck by lightning.
Where are we?
Well we remain in fifth spot.
We are a point clear of 6th placed Middlesbrough — who have a game in hand.
And we are two points clear of 7th and 8th placed Sheffield United and Luton but have also played one more game
If we finish in the top six then we will thoroughly deserve it as we face 11 very tough remaining matches.
Seven are against sides battling for promotion including runaway leaders Fulham.
We probably need 24 points from these 11 games to make sure of a top six spot.
Below is the run-down with our opponent’s current position in brackets.
But let’s face it — this was the most sickening of results — especially as it had appeared that we were on our way back to form.
But it was not to be.
Here’s the list — where are we going to get these points?
Next Sunday
A. Luton (1200) (8) Sun March 13 then
A. Nott. Forest (9) Wed March 16
Followed by
H. Peterboro (24) Sun March 20

When Warburton arrived in May 2019 we were clearly a struggling Championship side.

Now we are clearly a good one.

Nothing about this afternoon changes that.

We've definitely made major progress if we're (still) in 5th place and frustrated/disappointed.

Thanks for that GB. Doubt we'll manage more than a dozen point's from that fixture list...and that is being generous. Last season's 9th spot could even be beyond us. Think the players will "throw in the towel" after this. Feels very pivotal.

Warburton has done a great job in general and especially the last 14 months.

BUT, there is a mindset/attitude problem in the squad, and I think it stems from him. He/We have lost out bottle.

It was so hard to see us losing the game at HT. miles better. One up. At home. Attacking the loft. But we came out with zero intent. It looked entirely deliberate not to attack and just focus on “looking after the football”. Two mistakes later we’re losing. And then we had no leadership to arrest the change. Willock off was mad, especially with no forwards on the bench.

He got the HT team talk all wrong.

Ingesting analysis HH. Could MW's body language which never seems bullish to me, be rubbing off on the players? I'm loathe to blame managers as I think players get an easy ride by doing this...but something has happened to these players. They are not as bad as the are looking at the moment - which is frankly bottom six form. Very perplexing and frustrating in equal measures.

I get what you're saying but feel that you're only saying it to lick wounds (which is understandable because today's match was particularly painful). If the current form continues then the team will finish lower than last season which isn't progress. If this happens then questions, quite rightly, will need to be asked to ascertain why QPR's form has so spectacularly fallen off cliff since January.

I'd rather ask those questions now because the opportunity is still there to do something special this season if the players really want it. Opportunities such as these seldom come along for clubs of our stature so you have to grab it with both hands when it presents itself. If not, players will need to be sold to balance the books, the manager will need to rebuild and we may not see another opportunity for a while. One can't simply assume that every season QPR will be upwardly mobile and promotion will be inevitable.

I just don't see it. 11 matches remain, 7 of those on the road, and many of those against promotion rivals. We can't even get a point at Barnsley or against Cardiff in our current form.

The good news is the matches against Luton, Forest, Sheffield etc. provide six pointers that could swing things back in our favor.

The bad news is I'm afraid they're not up for the challenge. Too naive and too lacking in firepower.

On current form, we are heading south...and quickly. The players seem to be giving up, and this rubbing off on a lot of supporters as well. Such a shame after so much promise. You an all blame me, as this rot coincided with my appearing on here 🤔😉

Having a major shortage of forwards is killing our play off chances: nobody on the bench today to bring on to mix it up and get a goal.
Warburton appears to be risk averse when it comes to trying virtually all of the U23/B team: Why not at least have Armstrong or one of the others on the bench?

I agree that overall Warburton has done sterling work but something's gone horribly wrong since January. In the blink of an eye, we've gone from a team that's shows real intent and wins matches from losing positions to one that lacks confidence and bemoans refereeing decisions.

There are a number of issues to resolve but attitude/confidence/approach is a major one and that comes from the manager. It's almost as if Warburton is desperate for just one win to change this mindset and today he was prepared to hold on to a 1 nil lead for 45 minutes rather than go for the jugular.

The leadership required to maintain a strong mindset and recover from setbacks has disappeared. Whilst I'm loathe to dig out individual players, I can't help but think that Johansen and Austin were brought in exactly for this purpose; it's no coincidence that QPR's form appears to have dipped with theirs.
