Thought he was superb for Huddersfield yesterday, why are we not getting midfield players like him, must be a money thing he is a South London boy signed from AFC Wimbledon in 2022.

He cost them 800k after being a schoolboy at Palace then AFC. He had a good game against us both times - maybe we make him look good?

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Fairly sure we did try to sign him?

I thought he was terrific yesterday, especially in the second half. Always on the ball, no surprise the blocked shot came to him.

I think we could have signed him that summer when we signed Johansen on a perm. Think I read/heard that somewhere. Recruitment/data team were keen on him, but Warburton (understandably based on the prior 6 months) wanted Stef, and we couldn’t afford everyone that summer. We spent enough as it was!

The end of the 21-22 season, when Huddersfield bought him and we had Beale, I don’t think we could afford him. But we were only signing Beale’s boys anyway. The opportunity was after his first season at AFC when he was not worth much.

League One, 2020/21: Dozzell - 43 apps, 1 assist, 0 goals
League One, 2021/22: Rudoni - 41 apps, 12 goals, 5 assists

Rudoni two years younger, same fee, will be sold for profit.

Dozzell contributing f*ck all and leaving for nothing.

Infuriating.

Good disguise, harder to take him seriously when he looks like the bass player in a bad punk band.

I think our recruitment guys were after him for a long time and the club missed the boat so someone else spent the actual money on him. Shame really, he's a good player. On that same Wimbledon note, I thought Ayoub Assal looked like he could have been a long term Ilias Chair replacement, ended up going to the Middle East instead

Think you are correct, I remember us being linked.

Underlines why you need a DoF with real authority (no not Les under this board) with a long term plan rather than a manager being egged on by us (lets face it) absolutely clueless fans. I was desperate to sign Stef that summer but I was a moron for wanting that in retrospect. Rudoni is precisely the kind of signing we should have made. Now, on the rare occasions we can make a signing such as with Frey, it inevitably has to be a short-term fix because we are desperate and have lost the luxury of being able to build for the future.

See that Ipswich Town have just signed AFC's latest hot property, their striker: Ali Al-Hamadi.
Big step up, but he's just 21, clearly has ability and his numbers are impressive. Wish him all the best.

Rudoni was definitely on our radar a couple of seasons ago as was Sorba Thomas when he was still at Borham Wood. If only Paal and Chair could take corners like Thomas.

Have to take exception to that, Mr Sheen.
Definitely more of a soft rock band vibe, probably do covers at post-wedding do's

Funnily enough he did have a similarly good season in League One for Doncaster in 2020/21: 41 apps, 10 goals, 5 assists but sadly that looks like being the peak of his career.

And today, Al-Hamadi has gone from AFC to Ipswich.
