BLAME the MANAGER 22:25 - Nov 1 with 6896 viewsgazza1

I was on my way to the ground on the Central Line & I thought that the team selected was all wrong, proper bad. I am totally confused who picks the Team now but my presumptions are that it is the manager.....

So, why is he leaving Mbegue out of the stating line up, out best CB in the squad?? He then thinks it is a good move to leave RND out & replace him with a new boy from Brazil at LB!!! He then decides Vale deserves a starting place - why?? But not only that he decides 'pace' is not important and leaves out our quick players who play wide. All changes that, I personally, think is madness & I am totally annoyed/

The manager needs to up his game' & very quickly.

In saying that I thought Ipswich were a very decent team & would have been very tough to beat - they played well, assisted by our manager.

It's common knowledge that the manager picks the team! That's usually how it works.

TBF Mbengue was dreadful at Derby and along with Varane deserved to be dropped

This and given how their 9 dominated Morrison in the air it was not going to be any better on that front and he still managed to get a yellow card. when he came on for stupid tackle in the middle of the pitch. Dont get Mbengue myself yes he has pace but scares the b'jesus out of me

I dont have issues with the manager but he got it all wrong today. Dont have issues with the line up but tactically the way we tried to press them was off from the beginning, Ipswich are exactly the team to you want to sit in mid block and play on the break, the high press and with Hayden so high was bypassed time and again leaving our rather poor defence very exposed

I said on the Match day thread it seemed a strange selection and so it proved. We needed some pace out wide, Vale doesn't have that even on his best days and he's been poor the last 2 or 3 games and was again today. We also needed M'Buenge's pace and strength at either CB or RB against their lively attackers. Cook and Morrison are slow, Morrison often seems slow to react to dangerous situations. Unless Smith or Akindilene are ready to step up, or Field can do a good job at CB I think we might need to strengthen at the back in January. I'd like to see if playing 3 at the back utilising Smyth and Saito as WB's makes us more solid at the back.

He got that badly wrong yesterday. I've learned from experience never to comment/Tweet etc on the team selection when it comes out, but everybody in the Crown said the same thing when we saw it. No pace in the team, no recovery speed at the back, teenage full back against Ipswich wingers. Mental.

Throwing the kid in at left back was really unfair on him, he was to blame for 2 of the goals and looked out of his depth, felt for him

He's likely to play next week with RND unable to play so made the decsion even more foolish

I thought Vale over Smyth and no Mbengue was wrong as well, even the subs were bizarre. 4-1 down game gone stick on Varane oir Field and get stop them running through you but he brought on Frey, made no sense at all

Repeating the same problems we did with Heverton santos.
Out of his depth at full back .
Esquerdinha should have been hooked at half time.
Anybody could see that .

My biggest concern is the constant changing of the back line. Just bizarre.

Why continue to play 35yo Cook who is playing poorly and will be gone in 6 months and leave Mbengue on the bench?

Why drop RND who can't play next Saturday?

Stick with those in form and make the others earn the shirt.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Are Coventry, Stoke, Millwall etc etc changing their starting eleven every week?

I honestly don’t know, so it’d be nice to know.

Just watched both those goals back and I'm not so sure, the first one yes he's beaten for pace down to the byline something we've seen Smyth do many times I dont see Norrington Davies do much differently there, its a great ball in as well, you could argue Morrison should do better

The second one Chairs gone very high in the press with Madsen, Kone and Burrell all up there and he's been left exposed 3 on one on the left hand side he could have gone in earlier maybe, if he holds position or turns around he still gets beaten. Hayden with Madsen pressing has to be coming to cover the left Cook needs to block the cross and Dunne who is ball watching and come too far across centrally has to do better to win that header

For the first goal I think Esquerdinha should have been doing more of what Cook did (admittedly unsuccessfully) for the one after - i.e. do everything you can to try and block the cross.

I've been pushing for the Brazilian to play if RND isn't fit, but he gave up on blocking the ball to a pretty unforgivable extent.

We have a much stronger bench than we've had for several years, these players shouldn't be making basic individual and collective errors so frequently. Something's not right with the coaching. And, I would suggest, the captaincy.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

You can't press like that for the 3rd goal with no one behind you, as soon as they pass behind him we are bang in trouble.

He has to do better for the 1st as well, beaten far too easily but ultimatly it's on the manager for picking him for this kind of game, was like Santos against Ben Doak last season, was just cruel, hopefully he can recover

I just think its a bit early for that Ted.

We would be happy with mid table at the start of the season and we are closer to top than bottom. I would prefer that we had a settled side and I agree with everyone the selection was a bit random yesterday but hopefully he tried something and just got badly burned

I only speak as I see It, I didnt like the look of the team that he picked to start, but that means nothing.

No point going on about it I hate losing but to lose at home by that margin Is downright embarrassing, for what It's worth I thought his substitutions were a bit pointless and awry too.

I'm quite sure he'll be fine, well hopefully.

Field played at left back a week ago. Not amazing, but solid and hugely experienced.

The Esquerdina selection is just bizarre. And Vale has been hopeless in his last 3 appearances.

I had hope that either of our 2 keepers would learn from their mistakes.

In fact they have, they have learnt that mistakes don’t matter, as you’ll still get a good wedge each week while the fans get shafted.

I would have more confidence in him if he hadn’t picked the Kone/Frey combination for one game, been given ample evidence that it didn’t work and then repeated the mistake shortly after.
