Also, I would give Field a 'run' in his natural position of centre midfield. Oh yes, and get the wingers to stay wide and run at defenders in wide positions not getting wingers to play narrow. Yes two quick busy wide players - playing wide! No more of this inverted wingers sh1t please. Why would you make the play even more narrow and congested?

He's picked the wrong team for the last three home games, so God knows what we'll see. We need a strong performance to stop the rot - our squad isn't perfect but it's better than last season and he's not getting the best out of it, particularly at home. I just hope they don't get any free kicks close to goal or we're f*cked.

I am astonished at the percentage of injuries our players these days, pick up in training or indeed in the pre match warm up. For me , this should never happen. There is no need to go full pelt in training as its "TRAINING" and not MATCHDAY ... Training for me is about getting players up and ready for match day play. If you have a "Joey Barton" type in your squad who goes out to damage anyone who deems has taken the p*ss out of him in training, then yes unfortunately there is a possibility but REALLY INJURED DURING TRAINING SESSIONS or SHOULD I SAY SETBACKS. For me, thats fr*cking weird !!! Maybe a question we need answers to from Ben Williams at the next fans forum. And yes we dont mind hearing long words by way of explanation, why this happens. Poku to need another two months recuperation then !!! [Post edited 4 Nov 16:51]

They would be my main changes too, Gazza. Field warrants a start now. And please play two wingers on their natural sides. Smyth on the right and Saito (who is two footed and can go both ways) on the left. I’d be tempted to play Chair off Burrell too. I think Kone needs a break, and he’s not playing that well. We’ll need Burrell for the out ball down the channel. Definitely RND at left back, assuming he isn’t actually carrying a knock the club don’t want to tell us about. Mbengue and Cook at centre half for me. Think we’ll need Cook’s experience, and personally, contrary to popular belief, I think he’s defending better than Morrison this season.

Nothing to do with his hammy, I’m sure. It’s not like they’d have made that clear if that wasn’t the case, is it? Is it??

Feel the same . Apologies for the negativity , but this now has red flags all over it this match . The usual bunch of factors that spell disaster for us , like a club in a bad run, manager just been sacked etc etc , that in truth , we could probably find for every game if we looked hard enough. Agree with Hunter and Gazza, I think maybe we need a bit of Fields guile in the middle of the park . He gets around better than Hayden and Madsen too. The problem is with the ball isn’t it. He is going backwards as a ‘ball playing footballer’ and that’s a shame . The other problem with 2 wide men remaining wide , and it’s something I too want to see , is it totally exposes the midfield 2 even more than they are already . To do that we really need to change formation and personnel. But on the previous matches that looks very unlikely

| They Couldn't Wait Until Wednesday 10pm To Sack Him - QPR Vs Southampton Thread on 21:07 - Nov 4 with 12620 views | Hunterhoop | I’m strangely optimistic. If he makes the changes I’m hoping for, I think we might nick it. I’d be interested in seeing Madsen play as the deep midfielder at “6” and Field play as the one getting about the pitch tackling and competing. When he wins it, just give it to Madsen or Chair (assuming he plays instead of Kone or Burrell). At some point, Stephan has to stumble across a personnel and shape that works again. This squad is a top half squad, IMO. I don’t want to see any playing out from the back though. Southampton will have a lot of the ball. We need to counter attack quickly and directly. It’s why Smyth and Burrell would definitely start for me. Pace in the team, pls. | | | |

"The other problem with 2 wide men remaining wide , and it’s something I too want to see , is it totally exposes the midfield 2 even more than they are already." Agreed, Mart, but we ain't makin' it with two in midfield. 4231, attacking full-backs, wingers, and as soon as we lose the ball we drop to 4411, or 451. The line of engagement is central midfield, not a step further back. We can't press, because we don't have the goalies or pace at the back to bring the entire team forward as one.
