Ba has failed his medical so not signing for QPR 23:52 - Aug 12 with 11837 viewsnumptydumpty

Announced this evening...

Personally think now they have seen Burrell and with the confirmed signing of Kone, deemed not a necessary signing.

But reason given is : -

Failed his medical !!

😂😂😂😂😂😂

WLS reporting that the deal is off:

Does look like we've changed our mind now that something better has come along.

To be fair it doesn't say he FAILED the medical, it just says QPR have decided not to proceed after receiving the results of it. I don't think you get a PASS/FAIL like an exam.

I could be totally wrong, but it almost seems like we made up an excuse and damaged a player’s reputation in the process because a shinier toy came along. The timing of it all gives me that sense.

We will look a bit silly if Kone doesn't sign - almost like off-loading Paal to Watford before Beck arrived

When your potential star striker is the same age as your youthful CEO/DOF, but he looks like he could have been his dad, it has to be a no.

I remember seeing an interview with Arsenal and England Physio Gary Lewis where he talked about medicals.

He said there isn’t really such a thing as a pass or fail of a medical. It’s just an examination to determine risk. Eg a player has little or no injuries so is low risk whilst another player has a history of problems with injuries in a certain part of his body so is considered a high risk.

The medical is as brief or thorough as the buying club decides. Bigger clubs are more thorough and take less risk (in theory) than smaller clubs.

All we can determine from this (if true) is that something has come up on the medical that has led us to change our minds. Doesn’t mean the player can’t/won’t sign for another club who are prepared to take whatever risk we weren’t.

Yep - he'll be snapped up by Charlton and score a hat-trick on 30 Aug in a 4-1 away win. A Mr C Kelman will grab the other...

Given the regularity in which transfers break down I doubt the club would fake medical results so as not to sign him.

Always an angle to criticise the club.

Charlie Austin springs to mind.

I suspect you're right. Something showed up that wasn't within the project's parameters reasonable risk taking...plus, inching closer on Kone might have just nudged the decision a smidge.

Right.

Which is exactly why the club do not announce or discuss transfers until the ink is dry.

Now there is criticism that we allegedly have pulled out of a signing we were allegedly making and in doing so have allegedly damaged the reputation of a player who no one had heard of and was playing in the backwaters of the German 2nd league and not ripping it up there anyway.

When does the window ‘slam shut’?

I can’t wait.

We don't know our side of the story and probably never will. However, this won't build other teams' confidence in doing business with us.

Better than signing him and ending up with an expensive crock.

They are clearly upset we didn't take him off their hands. Given they signed him only about six months ago one would question why they want shot.

I am pleased we have pulled out if it is because we have been able to sign Kone instead and couldn't give a $hit that they are throwing their toys out of the pram to be honest.

Poll: Do we need another Eze thread?

To be fair, it does sound like the player has an issue that was found previously.
-- Which is probably why he is the middle aisle and was on QPR's radar

I'm guessing he was the plan B if we couldn't sign Kone?

Darragh MacAnthony talked about how great we were to work with on the Poku deal so I'm not sure this is indicative of our usual transfer dealings
