And Dad took me to Rangers for the first time. I can still remember almost everything about it, parking in the White City Estate, him buying me a badge and rosette (which I still have) from a stall in South Africa Road. A burger from the van behind the Loft. Actually seeing the players in the flesh for the first time (I knew them all by sight from football cards and television). It was so exciting.
50 years. Bloody hell.

50 years ago and we were runners up at the end of the season. It's all (?) been downhill since.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)
Find me on twitter @derbyhoop and now on Bluesky
But this was still one of the 4 games we didn't win at home that season! Not a bad introduction though!
My favourite home game to Tottenham in that period was beating them in the League Cup 1973. A 1-0 win that could/should have been 6. Favourite away game was the 3-0 win in February 1976 with Gerry Francis a class above everybody else on the pitch.

Yep, went to both those games. We took along some Tottenham fans to the home game too-happy days.

Just checked if it was the one where we lost 0-1 to a John Duncan goal and it was. I went to that with two Rangers and one Spurs mate from school.
They were all over the loft so I had my Rangers scarf tucked away in my Parka pocket. At HT the bstrds were looking for Rangers and they “searched” my mate, pulled out his Nice One Cyril scarf and assumed we were all Tottenham.
Fcking bullies were at least 18 and we were just 11 year olds.
So, Yes. Happy memories of that day 50 years ago 😂
I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers.

Wow, forgotten it was a recently deceased Scotsman that was the Spurs problem.

Wonder how VAR would have sorted out that tackle on Gerry Francis who kicked the ball in rage hitting the culprit while he was lying on the ground rubbing his shins . Great upload Boston thanks

I still have my rattle that my uncle bought me back in the 60s... and I use to bring a stool to stand on....
I bet I was popular with the ground around me
I had a rattle (pre-QPR, for my local team Hitchin Town, Isthmian League in the early 60s). The old boys used to hate them. One of my schoolmates used to empty out Stevenage Town's ridiculously massive home stand every week. There were never more than a few dozen blokes in there, but by half-time they were all standing in the rain mumbling under their breath.

1967 for me. My grandad took me and we always stood in the school end. We subsequently had season tickets for many years in the “new” stands
I remember him parking his Vauxhall Victor in the roads by the ground. Burgers and those onions from boiling water from the burger stall on the Streep (not a van) were such a treat. The match program with the also included Football League Review mag. Also Queuing up for Bovril at half time. Oh and Beat the Clock tickets for 6d

How nice that Moonshine was able to celebrate with another 0-0😀
We should have won that Spurs game. My recollection is Dave Thomas tore them a new one and there was some argy bargy on the pitch.
Just watched on (?) just googled it. Great game, I was there in the paddock but not on camera 😢 Full of skill and rough and tumble. These days At least 20 minutes would have been wasted with players rolling about on the ground claiming all manner of fatal injury. MOM Mick Leach with Chris Jones a close second.

Went to 2 games that season as a 12 year old, with my Dad, Ipswich Town and Leeds United. The anticipation and atmosphere was fantastic, getting the tube from Northolt, where we lived to White City. A trip I was to do many times over the years. The Leeds game was really buzzing as it was the last home game of the season and Rangers had to win after fatefully losing away to Norwich to see if they could take the 1st division title. Loftus Road was rammed with around 35,000 that day. Always remember that game probably more than any other, due to Norman Hunter's shorts splitting and us winning 2-0.
