I turned off, put my trainers on and went for a walk without my phone on 96 minutes. Struggled health wise of late and trying to keep stress free, so thought it for the best. Came back home, down but trying to be optimistic about the playoffs and wondering if I could stomach next week's guard of honour. Had lost my appetite but forced my tea down, resigned but forcing a smile when explaining to my youngest about the joys of watching Rochdale for 40 odd years. Decided on no social media and settled down to watch ' The Princess Bride' again....the Mrs favourite film and as she's running tomorrows marathon and had to put up with me, her choice...... Phone beeps...thinks it's my Oldham supporting mate commiserating/rubbing it in. It is, except message begins...you jammy b@£#rds.....well you can imagine my evening has taken a turn for the better. And in reverse, at 1-0 to Dale, York would have celebrated their comprehensive win with confidence.
The way it all played out is the worst scenario for them. There’s not one York fan who is enjoying their pint/brew tonight.

It was the worst of days then literally the very best. The scenes in the stands were incredible. After in the pub the landlady was filming all the fans singing in celebration. Sometimes sport can just be fantastic. What a day.
Just one comment on the game. The pitch was bone hard and cramped. Very little room to play football, so I can understand why we went long a number of times.
Battle of the Roses then. I think our lot won at Bosworth Field. Expect the same next week UTD

Watching in the Ratcliffe it looked like the pitch was the major factor on the quality of the game. It doesn’t help when players make the wrong choices but it was bouncing up like a game on Boundary Park’s astroturf in 1990.
I had actually made peace with not winning the league last week but this team continues to show utter balls to the wall resilience. The performance does not matter.
That transcended words.
They deserve our absolute support from minute 1 to 90 + next week and I'll feel privileged to be there regardless of the result.

Sanity restored and time to reflect. At the ground I felt we were better than last week, but only saw that one on DAZN. having watched the ‘Inside Dale “ piece my views are confirmed. We had 8 efforts on target including two goals, and an effort cleared off the line. Mani was winning much more against this centre half and the team had more urgency all over the park. Standouts: Player wise Callum Perry was outstanding again Gilmour twice balling out Mani to drop deep and pick someone up Mani being cool enough to pass the ball into the net for the winner The sheer bloody mindedness of this team The scenes post match, including Mani pounding a bi spectacled pensioner on the floor.
The good news is that Mani has ended his drought, and Gilmour and TAR both look match fit again. I hope the East sub was just tactical. Now regardless of what happens next week I hope the last two games has bought an end to fans using the term bottlers against this team.
As a footnote it’s easy to see why Braintree were relegated. In his interview their manager stated that Braintree were better than us from start to finish and should have won the game let alone loose it, and played some lovely stuff. If he has been blowing smoke up his players arses like that every time they loose it’s easy to see why they sit where they do

I said similar on another site. Already a legend but a chance to even beyond that. Optimistic for the game as I think the previous 45 games don't matter now. Pressure could get to either side & if it is close with 15 left, Hendo could be the man.

Well 2026 has been an awful year for me, in Jan we had to put our dog down, in Feb my son fractured his shoulder on a College ski trip to Austria, then I lost my mum and in March my wife had a heart attack. Surely the sunshine around the corner is Dale getting promoted and winning the title on Saturday! It was my son's 18th on Saturday and we had a house party in the afternoon with us all watching the Dale at 5.30. When that Braintree equaliser went in it was about to turn into a horrible day, people were planning on not going to the York game because they couldn't stomach another team celebrating on our pitch again... Then that Mani miracle in the 98th minute - from despair to hope again! Saturday is back on and potentially the greatest day of our Dale lives. Just 1 time - that's all we are asking for - just 1 time to win something and celebrate like never before.

Sorry to hear about the awful things you've had to endure this year. Let's hope Saturday is the last awful thing you have to endure and it ends with us having our moment in the sun.
There's lots of things which have happened, lots of positive signs, lots of positive omens... But there's still a job to do. Let's hope these players can muster every ounce of energy to get over that line.
We have NOTHING to lose and should go out and play with freedom and intent. Get at York and have it out.

I too would've probably given the York party a miss; had a lifetime of other teams/fans celebrating at our place (with notable Dale celebrations too, of course) but this would've been a game too far for me. That's how transformative the Mani goal was
Others will have a different take about attending if we'd not won at Braintree, but the result is in the history books now
