Montero is the latest one we may struggle to hold on to. I think he is bordering on world class.

Gylfi worked hard and played well. Some neat interplay with Montero for a few chances, one good strike, tracked midfield runners reliably and constantly pressed Matic (who "coincidentally" had a real bad game).
The gameplan involved bypassing him, though. Chelsea press up and have Matic sitting, so Gylfi had no space to work in. Which is why going longer to Gomis, or wide to Montero were the preferred passes.
Selfless, thankless job. Not perfect, but not deserving of the level of criticism I've seen. This wasn't aimless pre-season Gylfi. | | | |
