"Working amid terrible conditions in the field, Surgeon Capt Rick Jolly, from Torpoint, Cornwall, saved the life of every British serviceman he treated."
Imagine how many people are around today who otherwise would not have been if not for the skill and tenacity of this remarkable man in treating their fathers, or grandfathers even at this remove.

Fantastic documentary on him and his fellow medics, during the Falklands.
Nice to see a bone fide hero appear on this board.
RIP
There's a fair chance his book may be reissued now that the great man has passed. It's a good read. There are a few copies knocking around now but very expensive at the moment.

Forget the reissue bit above, it already has been in updated form. Pick up a copy if you come across it. It's well worth your time.
Are you sure that's an updated version of the original? I've not seen a copy of The Red and Green Life Machine, on sale for under £20, been looking out for a cheaper copy for years...

It looks to be a version of the diary woven into prose form. Given the first book was published in 1983 this one would look to be of real interest to see what perspective he would have gained on the conflict with the advantage of hindsight.
Safe to say the story you are looking for will be in there and you can pick this up for a fiver, and that can't be bad.
