No he doesn’t stand in for the chair. He doesn’t sit in board meetings as far as I know. He’s not a board member. It’s a bit of a grace and favour type thing. No idea if it’s paid. Can’t imagine the current incumbent does it for free. It would be totally out of character if he does. | |

Yeah I would have thought that in the event of birch going off on the sick or maternity or something then the vice chair in this case LEON would be the one stepping in to the breach and taking up the responsibility of sacking everyone on minimum wage and attempting to sell anything with a pulse. |  |

I can see the logic in Leon being involved on the football side of the house. Someone who was so intrinsic to what was good about us for over a decade would be an asset. Doubt he'd have the business or commercial knowledge needed for being Birch's deputy though, but then the VC role at the club has never been that anyway, it's always been a bit of a misnomer.
Anyway, as Clasey says, the VC position has no legal standing and the current VC isn't a director, as those of us who remember that kerfuffle a couple of years ago when he was hastily removed from the register on companies House will recall. |  |

This seems like an attempt to win over the thickest members of the fan base who'll think Leon is going to have an input on the players we buy, the way we play and other important issues.
The reality is he's just a pawn to appease the fans and will be present in the hospitality areas to kiss babies and take photos with gleeful adults. He'll be made to tow the party line in the media and get some fans on board.

Won't argue with that, It's a bit bittersweet with me i.e. sad if Leon Britton is used as the Yanks-mouthpiece to placate supporters anger/revolt but?... A absolute mega plus if Dineen finally gets stripped of his grandiose title, perks and privileges .
