He was knocked down by a van in his late teens and lost his sense of taste and smell which eventually came back but he had to give up playing football because of the head injury he suffered so there was always something lurking in the background.. The wife's favourite chef, we ate in his restaurant last year, really good. So sad, so young, always came across as a really nice guy. |  |

I watched his Xmas special from 1998 this morning, just seemed a bloke who loved doing what he did whilst making it look interesting but so straight forward (when you know it isn't)
Saturday kitchen also showed him as a 28 year old with Keith Floyd! He must have had a reputation as a pioneer to have been with the late , great fabulous Floyd. [Post edited 30 Nov 2019 15:43]
