Scary, risking a serious escalation... Where is Lord Bony's WW3 thread!

An escalating situation would have been guaranteed if Soleimani (and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the other important target) had carried out further planned attacks on embassies and diplomats. Soleimani had already killed thousands.

This might escalate in any case, but it's usually not easy to replace the head of the snake.

No idea, but the Wests record of getting these things right is poor.

Add Trump to that, and ..... who knows ...?

The Pentagon statement is ridiculous. In what way can blowing up a convoy of vehicles 8000 miles away be described as “defensive action”?

Are America on "our side"? The first the UK Government heard about the planned strike was after it had been carried out.

So much for the "special relationship"

They’re far more in our side than those other inbred ćunts in Iran that’s for sure.

It’s difficult to know what to think.

On one hand you have every single expert on Middle Eastern politics saying that it was a ludicrous and quite possibly illegal action to take against someone that, although undeniably horrific, led the fight against the growth of Isis and Al Qaeda, and will lead to a significant escalation in tension in an already hugely dangerous situation, and on the other hand you have a bunch of American red necks shouting ‘USA, USA’.

Who to believe...

I wouldn't be surprised to see more "London bridge" type stuff in the US and maybe even here.
