It was as weird an incident as I've seen on a rugby pitch. The authorities obviously take it seriously as the upper end of punishment is a 4 year ban! My suspicion would be that they'll cite him and punish him at the low end of the scale which starts at 12 weeks, but some journos are pushing the narrative that the authorities will want to make a point on this kind of behaviour and will throw the book at him.
I doubt Alun Wyn Jones would even contemplate doing so, but what would be fascinating would be if he decided to make it a criminal case. If there was CCTV footage of someone doing the exact same thing on the High Street, it would presumably be an open and shut case. |  |

No, it’s not Sexual Assault.
It’s covered by s3 Sexual Offences Act 2003. In order to be guilty, it has to be shown that : -
(a)he intentionally touches another person (B),
(b)the touching is sexual,
(c)B does not consent to the touching, and
(d)A does not reasonably believe that B consents.
Now, a,c and d is made out. Issue is with b. It would have to be shown that Manler’s intention behind the grab was sexual, as opposed, to eg wind him up, which, i think was the case.
He’s a dick and deserved a slap, but it’s never sexual assault.
