Just heard a neighbour of mine say that someone has travelled up to Ross on Wye from Cross Hands and back today.
If I travelled from Carmarthen to Tenby this sunny evening I guarantee I would get stopped.

Agree 100% but action, common sense and discipline are all disappearing over the horizon so hope may soon be all we have unless we have record June rainfall to keep everyone indoors instead of on the nation's beaches.

Because we have no testing to speak of in Wales Dickford thinks that locking us in will be beneficial.

My local pub has a beer garden wher he could open up with good custom with 2m rule even better with less.

People have got to be trusted.

I honestly don’t think anybody gives a f*ck about enforcing “lockdown” anymore. You can pretty much do whatever you like.

The politicians have made it impossible to enforce to be fair. The police have got no chance.

We need to look at the areas that have low infection rates and no new cases or deaths and slowly start to reopen.
Drakeford doesn't want the hassle of a county by county approach he just wants a "One Wales approach" which isn't fair as many areas could slowly open up to locals.

It's never going to be policed properly as people will flout the 5 mile only rule and rightly or wrongly claim they travel further than that to work or supermarkets.

I'm not really a beach person, lucky me. I'm also lucky to have a decent sized garden and good neighbours. The question is, how long can people, more especially us of 'shielding' status, keep ourselves locked away without causing just as much damage just of a different kind?
Then there's the kids, when is it safe to open up schools and when we do (my son being 11) will I then literally be living in the one bedroom and keeping away from my own family? With all 3 of us being at home we chose to isolate as a family, getting as much as possible delivered or fetched by neighbours which probably preserved what little sanity I have left!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I think you find that by the time the pubs open social distancing will be 1 meter like Italy. Don't be surprised if when pubs do open you have to book a table in advance and have an allotted time slot. It will be a long time before you can just pop in for a pint.

The Westbourne was a bit premature getting rid of the App and table pumps. Rumour mill has it that the distance will drop shortly, helping the holiday companies and airlines, but eff me you have to have balls of steel to make some of these calls.

Our canteen has managed it in work quite easily, just needs a bit of thought, one way system and away to go. My mate is saying Amazon in Swansea are unbelievable in scoping out.

When is Dickford going to roll out the Kits from Pencoed, ive heard they have been ready for weeks.

Your canteen probably doesn't sell alcohol and have the problems that come with this.Plus it knows who has visited it within reason.

Any business that serves alcohol is licensed for a reason. Wetherspoons have stated all orders will be made by app only with table service, the app is being updated to enable table bookings, the bar will not be open you to order. This will be rolled out throughout the industry. The reasons are that you can not have people congregating in any areas, plus all people in the pub or restaurant will need to be traceable for the new test and trace system. Any premises that cannot provide this in some shape or form will not be allowed to open.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to the beach provided everyone sticks to social distancing but the reality is that far too many don't which means that even those who try to will probably fail. 8th May (VE day), Weston-super-Mare beach was standing room only in places and 2 weeks later, Weston hospital announced it was full and not accepting any more patients. That is not coincidence. The West Country currently has the highest R0 in the UK and it is rising and that's probably because it consists almost entirely of a variety of tourist attractions and beaches. You say people need to be trusted and most probably can be but it's the growing number of ones who can't that are the problem and it's always a minority that spoil things.

Scientific advisers Professor John Edmunds and Sir Jeremy Farrar have both publicly stated that it is too soon to further relax lockdown rules.

Why would you want to go on a beach where there was standing room only and get out of your safe zone. Mounted police could sort that out, and administer fines. Then if the loonies kick off we can stick them in Swansea Nick where there is record overcrowding to satisfy their needs.

A friend from Portishead said that the area is apparently just reaching the peak. Is that true? If so then there's no way there should be a blanket approach to restrictions.

I'm not sure about it just reaching its peak here because the R0 did drop as it did elsewhere but has now risen again suggesting that it might be a 2nd peak. The surge in cases had been linked to the VE celebrations on 8th May when lockdown rules were abandoned and the fear is that the Bank Holiday weekend may result in another similar surge that Weston Hospital can't cope with atm but hopefully there may be capacity at Southmeads Bristol, Musgrove Park Taunton and possibly Nightingale Bristol or maybe at Weston itself if some patients have been moved to the other 3 hospitals. We will have to wait and see I guess.

I'm still of a mind to say f*ck that, the beach is a 10 min stroll away, my garden is big enough and I've got a massive paddling pool which I've refilled every day so far, it'll do me for the summer, other than taking the dog for her daily walk and shopping once a week plus work where we're able to social distance I ain't going anywhere else

The hair and the beard have gone I am now conforming to society, tis a sad day The b*stards are coming back though

Would love to drive down to Pembroke to see my sister in her garden. To be honest if you are in your car and don’t even need to stop for petrol, don’t see the difference.

Of course I am ultra careful, I suppose we have to suffer for those that would take advantage.

Had lots of fun in Carmarthen in the past :) used to work there. Actually lived in Abergwili for a time (the name always made me smile). Of course regularly drive through on our way to Pembroke (until mid March). Used to keep the Bucks at Saint Clears in business. Sure I saw Theresa May there once?

Dear heart Drakey doesn’t allow me as far as the M4 though nowadays.

Could hike across Gower, except fell flat forward down some garden steps 6 weeks ago, did in my shin, knees and hand and am still limping. luckily had a set of crutches. Too nesh to go to A&E.

North Somerset have announced that schools in the area will not be reopening this coming week and won't be until Weston Hospital is able to cope with the possibility of additional Covid cases that may arise if schools reopen. I can't say I'm disappointed at this news as Weston is our nearest hospital.

St.Clears what a good bunch. The Black Lion was a haunt of mine.
Unfortunately the Starbucks doesn't take you into the place as it's just off the roundabout where one road takes you to Tenby/Pembroke the other Haverfordwest/St.Davids.
Incredibly busy at peak times but time it right and it can be peaceful.
When the sun sets it's dreamlike driving West.
Great Chinese takeaway there, gym , spar, co-op and the County Stores bakery is fantastic.
Corvus was a good pub too.

The problem in Weston appears to be within NHS staff not the local community unless reports are mistaken? 6% of staff tested positive while having no symptoms apparently. Thankfully they shut up shop immediately and it didn’t spread to patients (it seems from testing).

May be some sort of superspreader incident among staff?

Many schools won’t open (under half in England are tomorrow according to one report I saw). Sensible for each area and each school to do it when they feel safe as it varies so much.
