The annoying thing is that I’m a supporter of Welsh autonomy, possibly will be persuaded about independence if Scotland and NI go in particular, but kilkenny’s brand of anti English nationalism is a massive turn off for me.
If Wales is to become a stronger nation, it can’t be run by well meaning old socialists like Drakeford. It has to understand that wealth creators are essential for the strong economy needed to provide the services needed for everyone. I’d hope it has a heart - provides properly for children, those who can’t work, older people, top quality healthcare and education, social care and so on, but to do that it has to innovate and drive forward. That involves taking decisions that are sometimes difficult. Destroying companies in Carmarthenshire because there are virus incidents in Wrexham is insane. |

Leanne Wood is a moron. Adam Price on the face of it has the right credentials but he’s been far too silent on the adverse impact on the Welsh economy of the WG’s continued indecisiveness. I’d have expected more from him during the last few months. I think he’s been too easily silenced by a seat at the table.
I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone that’s particularly good to be honest, with the caveat that I only see a small number as I don’t live in Wales.
It’s a frequently mentioned opinion from people in big business that when they meet the Scottish representatives they are well briefed, on top of the facts, able to argue, and good at standing their ground for Scottish interests. The Welsh representatives are viewed as poor in comparison.

To be perfectly honest it would be a Labour politician. Even in last years election with the worst Labour leader in living memory the Tories didnt achieve anything like a majority. I have never been a Drakeford fan but he has done well over coronavirus. Anyone who associates himself with Corbyn is a worry.

This is what the nationalists aren’t getting. If Wales is to stand independent it must stand on its own two feet, no EU grants, no woe is me look at England taking our water and taxes and being a nasty pasty. We need to grow a set of nads and work ourselves out of this shit. What’s the point of banging on about independence when we would surrender it all back to Brussels? It makes no sense. Wales needs to invest in its own, invest in itself. Support local if you can, encourage the bright and brilliant to stay and not move to London because there’s nothing here. The reason I have continued to ask is due to the remarkably different effect of remaining in lockdown for those who have a business or a private sector employer, compared to those who have a public sector employer or don’t work due to reasons of being retired or a student. If you aren’t someone whose livelihood depends on the economy opening up, it’s a very different set of considerations. Of course you’ll then want a zero risk option. You’re not worrying about feeding your family in two months’ time. | | | |

I'm a bit surprised that one of the big players in hospitality like Tim Martin or Enterprise Inns haven't called Drakefords bluff yet and threatened to open anyway or walk away from Wales. I wouldn't blame them if they don't get an indication of a date soon.

I do not complain about my renumeration. My tax, NI and Pension are about £2200 per month. As the USS (university academic) pension scheme is a mess our contributions have gone up massively to cover this. I'll get a mix of final and defined benefit. The scheme to new joiners is average. This is not so great as early wages are quite low. I'm 52. If I were 55 I could have got near 60K redundancy, about the same as a lump sum and about 26K a year pension plus state at 67. Could also still get about 800 quid a day consultancy too.
