| Right wingers coming out of the cupboard 08:51 - Oct 25 with 4441 views | trampie | I remember posting on an old rugby site a dozen years or so ago and on the political section 7 or 8 regulars used to challenge me on what they thought were far left views, I regarded my views as centre, centre left and their views as Tory right wing, then coinciding with an election there was an online questionnaire that would tell you what parties in 1,2,3 order best suited your views, I was impressed because I came out as I expected, at the time I think it was Plaid 1, Greens 2 and SDLP 3 So I told the others to have a go and they were all either Labour, Labour but considering voting Lib-Dem being life long Labour or no political allegiance and just like I thought in every single case they came out as a mix of Conservatives, UKIP and Ulster unionists, they were Tories who thought they were Labour and I see that today on sites like this but now they are more likely to realise and admit they are Tories. Socialist policies in years gone by leading to people going to universities and living longer combined with having mortgages has resulted in people becoming more Tory, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight if the UK remains as it is, but if it breaks up then Scotland and Wales might well get away from perpetual Tory rule. It had knock on effects , and that as well as the Iranian revolution in 79, kept prices and inflation high. It was a very turbulent time, with recessions and all kinds of happenings. Thatcher raised interest rates to combat it, 17%, i believe The main point that has been missed, is Maggie blamed on on excess spending on the welfare state, when it had nothing to do with it at all | | | |

Not all the ills of this country can be laid at the hands of the Tories. That's the point I'm making.

Maggie was a Tory in name only, She was a neo con, just like Blair wasn't a true socialist
| Right wingers coming out of the cupboard on 11:00 - Oct 28 with 883 views | onehunglow | Maggie was idolised by much of Britain. She was seen, like it or now,as a leader ,the like of which Johnson could never be. People, outside the labour heartlands ,were sick of strikes ,sick of the scum like Hatton,Red Robbo etc destroying our industry for political points and ,in hatton' case, personal gain. If you were /are Labour, you hated her as with her in power you would never br in government. She won 3 elections to prove my point. And no,I did not particularly like her. | |

Milton Friedman called her a "19th Century Liberal" and she believed in keeping government spending down. Even so she had argued against cuts to education when she was education minister. Blair stuck by many of her principles, she was hardly a true Tory, he wasn't true Labour. Honestly, I prefer Thatcher to Blair because to me she was the more honest, more being the operative word because politicians are rarely very honest.

I remember his nauseating celebrations for his first election with the excreable Cherie, about the greatest hypocrite you could imagine. A clever ,grabbing, nasty bitch. He conned good people He sent many to the their deaths He destroyed much of the middle east He made serious serious money of it . A Labour prime minister

Morning Richie, If Blair was Labour I'm Obi Wan Kenobi and Donald Trump is Chewbacca! The man should be in prison in my eyes. He changed human rights laws and one of the benefactors was his wifes chambers. So many politicians are crooked they have to cover each others backs or Westminster would be empty and there'd be no rom in any prisons. Obviously that is purely my opinion. Other opinions are available will differ!

A judge . I'll leave it there on her, although she made good money on human rights as most lawyers do. If Blair wasn't then Corbyn was? You see my point.

He stood under a Labour banner yes but that's where it ends. The pair of them were in it for the money. That he still thinks he's relevant in UK politics is a joke and he was a peace envoy too....HOW?

He did, because I had voiced support for Marine Le Pen and you had agreed, but do you recall the context? Let me take you back a few years to May 2017, the night after the French Presidential elections and two contrasting events occurring at the same time. In Paris Macron was holding a victory celebration, a gathering of the Davos class, where the top CEOs of the Bourse, their bankster collaborators and tame MSM news editors sat at the trough. An assembly of the guilty, of those who had rigged a system to benefit themselves and line their own pockets at the expense of working folk. On hand providing decoration as always were the painted, vapid sluts of the show business world. Meanwhile, two hundred or so miles away to the north east in the main square of the town of Florange Marine Le Pen stood on a portable platform in the rain addressing thousands of steelworkers. She was attempting to assure them that despite losing the election their cause was hers, she had not forgotten them. To borrow a staple concept of the Marxian dialectic, that of ‘heightening the contradiction,’ in terms of optics it could hardly have been starker.

But that applies to many former and present Labour politicians a it does Tories. I'm not bothered personally of the wealth of any politician so long as he/she can lead us forward. We see no sign of that. Even a cursory glance at this and other sites show that class war is at the very core of our problems. When terms like working class/ordinary people are consigned to the bin then we can but hope.

I have heard that said by several people who have studied history or politics. Interesting discussion both. As different as we all are, there are often areas of agreement-both Loh and I despair how our industrial base was eroded. When I look at the English Electric Lightning I am sad we now give that name to the F35. We have not put people first for too long, whether red or blue.

Any elected politician who use their position to enrich themselves and their friends should end up in prison. Too many of them treat it like a lottery win. Mandelsohn allegedly got away with mortgage fraud, is that beter or worse than Cummings little sojourn?

Peter bloody Mandelson. How many times did he have to resign for some sort of scandal only to re-emerge a short time later in another more lucrative role?

He was reward with commissioners post with the EU. The one place where voters could not get rid of him. He now has a hefty pension from the EU for doing very little.

Kinnockio, wasn't he all for abolishing the House of Lords and anti EU too. Now he's a lord with a fat EU pension, they don't come much more odious and hypocritical. read this, https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ I reckon I can desvribe it better, he was offered a job with a massive salary and gold plated pension that meant he could also employ family without having his expenses checked. Between them the Kinnocka made about 10 million from the EU and their combined pension is about 183k per year.
