Benefit of the doubt up and until now.

But today was the final straw.

He couldn’t finish a cup of tea.

if he could just slide the ball
either side of the keeper rather than just kick it straight at him every time
we would be top of the league tonight.

Unfortunately for the "you have to have played the game to understand it" types, the likes of Paul Merson or Garth Crooks exist. Usually this kind of nonsense is spouted by those who think that a few seasons in midfield for Motspurs third XI somehow gives them special insight into football's intricacies.

It's easier to accept that you either have the intelligence to understand the game or you don't. Being able to play it to whatever standard is no help at all if you're thick as mince.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Great point.

For me it's pretty clear that the better football posters are the ones that played to a decent standard. Seems there's a correlation between quality of football played/coached and quality of insight. Always the odd exception ofc.

In the stadium it's obvious to spot the twp looking types spewing out their twp miserably negative dirge, game after game regardless of performance or result. It's what they do, always.

No doubt as the forum is a decent microcosm of the stadium, this pattern will no doubt be repeated.

Name the posters on here that played to a decent standard.

And for a bonus point, detail the level that they played at.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Yes Doc, not all the best players become good managers.

And I find people saying that you have to have played the game at a decent level to understand the game quite arrogant.

Wenger a point in case, Bobby Charlton couldn't manage himself let alone s club after he finished playing at world class levels.

OK I've changed it.

Football is littered with great players who didn't have the wherewithal to become great managers, or even great coaches. On the flip side, the three most influential coaches of the Premier League era (Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho) don't have a cap between them.

It seems to be particularly difficult for quality British players to make the transition though. Don't know why, but I suspect it's because education takes a serious backseat to training for any kid who wants to make it to the top. More emphasis on developing the brain as well as the feet may make better players and potentially better coaches in the future.

Thankfully I was in the second XI (and played a couple of games for the firsts - however I preferred the earlier kick offs with the stiffs that allowed me to make the vetch kick off - just).

Each time I go to Bedd - au........................
