They will probably scrape it on the last day after sacking Pulis.

Aside from a disappointing start to one season with West Brom in 2017, Tony Pulis has done a good to exceptional job at every other club he has managed since 2006. What he did with Stoke was exceptional and his team will be remembered for decades. He took over a Crystal Palace side bottom of the English Premier League and completely turned them around, signing players which would form the spine of their team for years to come. He averaged 1.5 points per game and was named Manager of the Year. He joined West Brom, their fourth manager in less than a year. Despite the disarray, he kept them up. He was eventually sacked in his third season, leaving the club whilst they were still outside of the relegation zone. At Middlesbrough he took over from Garry Monk and in his 80 games they averaged a points per game figure good enough to reach the Play-Offs most seasons. He is an outstanding manager and the only reason people have a negative view of him is because his style of football is mocked by the media, and gullible football supporters drink the kool-aid.

A great manager of a football club and one not to be messed about. Had we had the nous to employ him,we would still be mid table premier league. Fact. Wednesday will survive easily and I hope they do

He plays a certain way, but he is pragmatic and delivers on the results front. Love him or loath him, Warnock is another one. Boro finished 17th last season, they are 7th at the moment.

He said as much in his book, he thought it was time to give us fresh ideas from how we played previously under different managers and go more direct etc. How we let a novice manager tear apart a philosophy that took years to build over the course of a season an half I'll never know.

Yes Pulis has done well especially at Stoke. It’s a results business and there’s nothing archaic about winning games of football by playing to the strengths of your players. Getting it in the mixer directly and quickly might not be the prettiest to watch from a purest point of view but that’s a different argument. Some fans and players prefer it anyway. Personally I’d much prefer to watch a Rodgers or Martinez team play ...
