| Swansea was a Welsh club 07:59 - Jan 1 with 3470 views | trampie | Right wing N.Ireland and English unionists and their quislings are infesting the Swansea fanbase. Until roughly the turn of this century the Swans fanbase sentiment was solidly one of being a Welsh team, now there is a small percentage of right wing N.Ireland and English nationalist types embedding itself in the Swansea fanbase. It started with that bloke that disguised his background and identity to join the Lib-Dems in Swansea but he eventually got outed then an upside down union jack appears and then we have loyalist type flags and now this group of edl/Brexit leavers with Swansea in their name have now changed their name to having Wales in their name and are protesting against the players racism protest. I know there has been a lot of immigration into Wales and there is a rise in English nationalism but this is ridiculous and sad to see that they are infiltrating the Swans fanbase. Just look at the knee taking for the blm A toxic racist group who see black power as the future Even see black players raise a fist in support of it Yet when pepole complain they are classed racist. No right wing is not at the club but its totaly left | | | |

Any football club will draw from across its city/town - and people hold different views. I am not keen on the union flag that is shown at home games. But clearly its a matter for the people who bring it in. I dont think the Swansea for Indy flag should have been banned. But we move on ... I also don't think its a new thing. I would like to see more welsh language coverage from the club, nothing dramatic but its missing for some strange reason 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ Happy New Year all ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ ⬛ï¸ðŸ–¤âš«ï¸

| Swansea was a Welsh club on 10:39 - Jan 1 with 2138 views | KeithHaynes | My view is it’s always been a cultural mix of thoughts, opinions and politics. The very fact that the opinions of others or the thoughts they portray is an issue for their opposite number astounds me. You can’t control people’s thoughts, not even the left can do that. I recall many many right wing thinking people following the club in the seventies as well as the sale of Bulldog outside the ground, and SWP newspapers. Music from the right and left as well being seen across South Wales. I passed on my politics to certain members of my family, I’ve mentioned before my grandfather fighting oppression against the uprising in Spain in 1937/38 and how those politics grew on me, as it did my brother. We all have opinions, you have to accept it, and if you can’t then may be this forum is not for you ? Swansea v Watford tomorrow, always a decent encounter back in the day. | |

Much the same here. I cannot fathom the mindset of people like Trampie. Hate filled little nomarks who want nothing more than to foster division, and get even more wound up about it when 90% of people show no interest in joining in.

I find it strange these people follow a football club that play in the English league. They hate everything English. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Swansea was a Welsh club on 11:37 - Jan 1 with 2050 views | Catullus | What next, we ar only allowed to have Welsh players? This is blatant xenophobia towards the English, this is as much hate speech as anything I have read. Swansea is in the UK, Swansea City are in the English football league. Swansea city has had (and still has) players from across the world. Take your hatred and support something you agree with. Swansea, the city AND the football club is for anybody and everybody who wants to be here, who wants to support us. | |

I find it strange that people cannot distinguish that being proud of being welsh, does not make you anti-English. I find it strange that pointing out the twin disasters of Johnsons Brexit and Johnsons handling of Covid makes you anti-British. In fact its your patriotic duty to call it out. 70,000 British people have died. Many children of the war. Many people don't hate anyone except the Tory party. Nye was right about that.

| Swansea was a Welsh club on 11:50 - Jan 1 with 2045 views | trampie | Football clubs are community clubs and their fanbase was a reflection of the community, Swansea and the catchment area was mainly working class and one of only a handful of Welsh teams in the football league, it is positioned further West than the other Welsh teams and had more of a feel of representing the left voting working class and more of a Welsh identity than the other two 'big' South Wales teams back in the day. Things have now changed and Swansea is becoming the least representative of the working class and least Welsh of the South Wales teams. This crowd that is infiltrating the Swansea fanbase are right wing zealots, don't be fooled by the 'popularism' of identifying with the outcry against taking the knee, that is not the issue the issue is everything else they stand for, I hope the mushers don't fall for it. | |

What I find sad is the way these groups exploit veterans in their English nationalist cause, they need to look no further than Westminster as regards the treatment of veterans.

SCFC is still a reflection of the community you numpty. Look at the divers nature of Swansea, we have people from across the world living and working here. We have far right idiots, and far left idiots but both very much in the minority thankfully. As for working class, ask any Championship first teamer hat their wages are and it's hardly working class stuff. https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/h Then there's our wage bill, https://footballleaguefc.com/s Lets ignore how many of our players aren't Welsh eh, lets ignore that most of them are on more in a month than the UK average annual wage...lets just post something divisive, hate filled and totally wrong.
