I’m going with a double Democrat win sadly taking it to 50 seats each. I think Warnock beats Loeffler. Closer race in the regular one but Ossoff to pip Perdue.
Will give the tying decision to the VP which isn’t good news for the Republicans, or America in general if you ask me.
But there are a couple of floating congresspeople that cross party lines so who knows, hopefully they block any of the madder changes that come up and ditch party affiliation.
1 seat win out of the 2 should be enough for the Republicans though, which is most likely to come from Perdue if any. Interesting few days ahead. |  |

Perhaps in the early days of the modern USA, it was all about eugenics, mainly young healthy people with drive to leave their homeland getting there and embracing the land of opportunity, now after a few hundred years the gulf between have and have nots is so great in America that perhaps the idea of a more equal society is appealing to more and more people. |  |

Perhaps in the early days of the modern USA, it was all about eugenics, mainly young healthy people with drive to leave their homeland getting there and embracing the land of opportunity, now after a few hundred years the gulf between have and have nots is so great in America that perhaps the idea of a more equal society is appealing to more and more people. |

Anyone that works hard can make something of themselves over there, which is why so many are desperate to get there. Can’t imagine there are too many in the queue to get into North Korea or Venezuela.

Changing capitalism due to a small minority of people being in poverty (who most will have the opportunity to get out of it) for a system that has proven time and time again to ruin economies and plunge whole countries into poverty (with no prospect of getting out of it) is beyond barking.

China is a communist state, make no mistake about that. Look at the party structure to see the Leninist/Communist nature of the country, it’s as centralised as you can get. It’s a communist state with a veneer of capitalist ideals. Every inch of land is owned by the Government, including Beijing.

If you want to see the difference in cultures between Eats and West just look at Hong Kong where the Chinese government is clamping down hard on anybody who dares speak up. As Prof says China is Authoritarian, they want the benefits of capitalism for the favoured few but they make the majority live in fear.
Hong Kong is fighting back and we should be supporting them,

China hasn't been Communist for decades. They've lifted far too many hundreds of millions of people out of poverty for any suggestion that they are to be taken in any way seriously. They'd still be starving to death in the countryside if they were.

We tried unchecked capitalism over here during the Victorian era, and you don't need to read all of Dickens's novels to know it doesn't work.
Social justice and equality doesn't have to mean socialism. You only have to look at the Scandinavian counties to appreciate how ensuring everyone has dignity and decency creates a much more pleasant society for all, with lower crime rates and higher standard of education.
A society based upon horrendous inequality, and propped up by a violent police force suppressing those on the lowest rungs, is a recipe for social unrest, crime, and violence. |  | | |
