Looking at yet another abject display ,it was a nice thought but we all got caught up in the prospect but ,looking at that-it's rather sick. Everyone of those players would have to be replaced ,for a start, apart from the manager.

| Promotion on 11:05 - Feb 25 by thornabyswan | Was thinking about selection. What about Hourihane behind Andre. And a midfield 3 of Fulton Grimes and Smith. Would that work worth a try maybe. Lowe gives 110% every game but for whatever reason just not going for him at the moment. |
Yeah possibly, going from what Villa fans said though CH can't play behind a striker, or in ten role. I haven't seen anything to suiggest they are wrong either to be honest but like you said, worth a try. Another problem with that is whose the outball? Ayew can't get in behind, and at the moment he's not even holding the ball up well. Tough conundrum for Cooper but if we want top 2, which lets be honest, being in this position at this stage, we are all desperate for, we need to find a way of scoring more goals.

I just think we need to try something agree with you that we looked more solid when Smith and Fulton came on. But Hourihane can win a game for us in an instant. Just wish his workrate was better but if it was chances are he would still be at Villa. [Post edited 25 Feb 2021 13:38]

Just for some perspective, that final whistle marked:- - our 13th consecutive unbeaten game at home - our 9th win during that 13 game unbeaten run - our 3rd consecutive clean sheet and 17th of the season in 30 games - our 7th league win in our last 10 games - losing only 1 of those 10 games. People are so annoyed by our form and the fact we are in the automatic positions should we win our games in hand that they even moan after wins. Who knows when the next defeat will be and people are far too impatient to wait. For shame. Incredibly proud of the squad and the management team for all they have achieved so far. It has been the most enjoyable season for years, long may it continue. |
Excellent post Dr. Our owners and CEO are in a results business. They won't give a toss about our entertainment value right now. They see the bigger picture, as does our manager. If ever there was a Club and manager that sweated it's assets quite like we do, hey. We are poised. The tension and expectation is palpable. One of the best moments in quite some time for our Club. Yet some choose to nitpick, always. Game management, selection, subs. Ffs.

It's the way it always is. There's always something wrong. And they always think they know the answer. The same goes for some supporters of every other team.

Just googled top rated keeper in the Championship looks like Freddy is tops obviously not your choice. No mention of him being a coward either [Post edited 26 Feb 2021 11:54]

Norwich had a poor spell of four games where they picked up 2 points. They’ve put that behind them with 4 straight wins. Brentford had three poor performances on the trot and lost all three. We have had three poor performances on the trot and have picked up 6 points in those three games which is promotion “form”. We now need to put our poor form behind us and continue to accumulate points at roughly two per game which would get us up. If we continue to play as poorly as we have in the last three games it won’t happen but if we improve, and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t, we will be looking back at our difficult period as the one that made the difference.

Yes there’s no doubting whatsoever that Woodman has been a big part of our success so far this season. All keepers make mistakes as the last time I looked they’re all human beings and humans do this, make mistakes. Even the best in the world do. Look at Liverpool’s goalkeeper a couple of weeks ago in consecutive games. Anyway it’s best to ignore Hinge and Brackett.

He is a far better keeper now than he was at the start of the season, but then Cooper’s simple mantra of development and learning from mistakes, which he makes very few tells me it works. Margetson linking in with that methodology is clearly working for Freddie. I expect Webb to improve massively too whilst Benda is in recovery.

But your hounding of Woodman on a constant basis is without logic, top rated keeper in all the stats. Yes his distribution is the main thing that needs working on but Margetson is obviously encouraging him to continue with it. And as for rolling the ball out it's done with the intention of building from the back, and hopefully playing through the high press which most teams do

A few years ago Swansea had De Guzman, Hernandez and Michu behind Danny Graham. Now we cannot have Grimes and Hourahaine in the same tems and need a squad of battlers. Swansea could match Sheff utd and have two seasons in the PL running off adrenaline for one season. Norwich were physically too weak defensively with lewis and Aaron very young.

We lost 5 in a row in 81 that didn't end to bad.

Yes but it was only 2 points for a wiin it was easier to pull points back if a team above you drew and you won...

Excellent shout, despite the usual dissenters who continue to flail. And Cooper went one step bolder with Yan into that same potent, gung ho mix. With Cooper's ongoing bold, innovative tactics, clever rotation, use of subs, etc etc. promotion is as on as ever it was. Imagine Cooper and this spine on the same stratospheric trajectory catapulted in the Prem. Glory days and beyond, beckon.
