Giving all Health care workers a one off bonus of 735 before tax so around 500 after

That's more than they are getting in England

I wonder if ex-HMRC is one of those types who used to hang around Ty Nant when they were on strike, or on the junction of Union and Oxford St selling the Socialist Worker.

What an absolutely idiotic post. Firstly it doesnt matter whether I did. That would be my right to do so. Secondly why would I feel the way I do about Corbyn and co if I was a member of the Socialist Workers party. They are the people backing him. Clearly you havent given any thought to this idiotic post.

You would never see Drakeford as doing well. You oppose everything he does. You wanted everything open last year. It was done as you wanted and led to a lockdown.

As far as the Kent variant is concerned it was the main variant in Wales in December. I posted a quote from Wales Chief Scientist a few days ago confirming it was the driving force in the rise in Wales before Christmas.

You dont accept that because it doesnt suit your agenda.

On 13 December when Hancock announced the Kent variant it was present in 57 counties in the UK. 45 in England and 6 each in Wales and Scotland. It was present in more cases pro rata in Wales than in England.

You consider Drakeford to e a disaster because he hasnt opened gyms and pubs or made plans for opening airports and nightclubs. Your policies that failed last year that Drakeford is attempting to avoid this year. It is looking very unlikely Johnson isnt going to be able to open overseas travel. Why announce a policy that isnt likely to happen.Who does that help.

I won't see Drakeford as doing well because he hasn't. It is that simple.

You're wrong about the variant, I even explained what "dominant" meant. It was present in more local authorities pro rata in Wales but it was rife and made up 80% of cases in SE England. I'm giving up on this it's obviously not sinking in.

Drakeford is a disaster because people have died. It's as simple as that. Far more people than similar countries, are you happy about that? You haven't even acknowledged this so far.

Where has Johnson announced a policy that overseas travel is going to open? It comes to something when you have to lie about Johnson to make Drakeford look good. He's given an earliest possible date if it can't happen, it can't happen.

Foreign travel is by far the most risky thing to reopen, but gym's, restaurants and pubs have an idea of when they may open in England. Those in Wales don't.

These plans help businesses plan and give people something to look forward to. We are the only nation not to have a road map. It's ridiculous, we aren't all stupid.

I've given it the precise level of thought you do when labelling anyone who thinks Drakeford has handled the Covid crisis appallingly a Tory.

It's quite fun putting people in little boxes.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

What is your opinion of the CWU?

I've been retired from there for 9 years, I'm so out of touch I couldn't give an opinion about them today.

Back in the day I would have told you that I was (still am) a strong believer in unions and it is a crying shame that top level union execs manipulate the membership for their own gain. Alan Johnson was a disgrace.
On al ocal level, well I worked with a fantastic Union rep and when he retired I took over for a while, I learned a lot, too much I sometimes think even though I barely scratched the surface of all I needed to know and ended up doing a lot of work in my own time. A good union rep is worth their weight in gold, the man before me was excellent.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Yes are right figures for Wales were exceptionally high in December and January after the failed two week lockdown and no restrictions afterwards.

Thankfully Wales has been rescued thanks to the successful UK government ordering of vaccines and the rollout thanks to our army and volunteers.

It makes you wonder how an independent Wales would have done. It might have done better. It might also have seen far more dying .

When Cymru does things for itself, it always does better.

Vaccines and Welsh NHS are outstanding.

A good job Wales is part of the UK and had plenty of vaccine supplies. An " independent " Wales under EU rule would have little say over vaccines and would still be waiting for them.

Glad everybody appreciates the good work done by the UK under Boris Johnson leadership.

Nice to read that the UK is considering supplying Ireland with 3.7 doses of vaccinations ,

"The vaccination programme in Northern Ireland passed 800,000 doses this week, around 45% of the population.

That compares with around 13.2% who have been vaccinated in the Republic, where the rollout has been slower and the population is much larger."

3.7 doses is an incredibly generous offer.
I guess 4 was just too much to ask...?

125,000 UK citizens have already died.
No vaccine can help these poor people.

Well to raise the figure I assume you're more than happy to give up your dose then ?

Yet you know full well if we were in the EU we wouldn't be allowed to do things for ourself. We wouldn't have as much vaccine now and many more people would die. We'd be having the third wave NOW too.

Those vaccines that are outstanding, sourced by the UK not Wales or the EU.

Sky news,

https://news.sky.com/story/eu-

The EU thinks it's acting fairly and responsibly, mindful of their global leadership role! So signing a contract later than the UK, a contract that is less stringent than the UK gives the Eu the right to make threats and to reserve the right to seize vaccines?

What will global business make of these threats? What will other governments and trading blocs make of these threats?

I'm pretty sure if the UK were doing this there'd be talk of "exceptionalism" of British arrogance and selfishness and maybe even bullying.

Is this how a so called forward thinking "trading bloc" behaves? Like a petty dictator.

Maybe if they had acted sooner, gotten the contracts right and supplied initial funding (like the UK did) they would have more vaccine now.
Maybe if they hadn't spouted scaremongering lies about the AZ vaccine they wouldn't have 28 million unused doses because Europeans are scared to have them.
That last point, if across Europe people are refusing the AZ jab, what's the point in them getting more?
Germany and France spread unfounded lies about the AZ because they wanted (or so it's been said) to boost sales of their own vaccines, to help vaccine producers with ties to their own countries.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

So basically the NHS and care staff are being held to ransom by the current WG.

It won't be paid until after Labour are re-elected.

I wonder what would be said if this was being done by Boris?

I’d imagine the logistics of sorting this out would be quite challenging, NHS workers could be sorted quickly, but the others including 103,000 social care workers ( I am stunned there are so many to be honest) would take some doing with all the little companies and care homes etc. They also need to make sure there’s no fraud.

Possibly when they put this forward they underestimated how many it would involve and the total cost. Some of the social care workers are part time doing one or two days a week, they did not stipulate full time as many in the health and social care do not work full time. This could cost them the election. I no way begrudge the payment but someone should ask the total cost and where the money is coming from.

The social care workers are more difficult to arrange, but this would be the second time this will have been paid so it would just mean paying the same people again. It is the first payment for the NHS staff .

Mrs Scotia got £500 (minus tax) last year as a social worker and is expecting it again. To be honest we were amazed when Drakeford mentioned that she would be getting another payment. We booked a holiday to Devon on the basis of it.
