| Thank you Welsh government on 13:12 - May 1 by trampie | The Senedd would be powerless to block a Tory government from effectively privatising the NHS via a free trade deal with the US for example. Trade deals are not within the powers of the Senedd. |
They have told the USa already that the NHS is not on the table in any trade deal, they had that argument. It would be interesting to see how the Senedd would react to what you say, I reckon Drakeford would disagree with you. Healthcare is legally devolved to Wales, Westminster cannot touch it, I'm fairly sure just from a lega standpoint you are wrong but maybe there's someone who knows better thn me can give us facts. That's the problem with your post Trampie, it's a supposistion, do you have any evidence for what you say?

You and Boris can say the "NHS is not for sale" until you're blue in the face, some only hear what they want to hear. It would be political suicide for any prime minister or party if they sold off the NHS. [Post edited 1 May 2021 17:07]

You said Cat "The Welsh NHS is devolved so even if England privatised Wales is separate, do you understand that?" The link I put up is as close to touching on that topic as you are likely to find. Wales would need full independence to make its own laws and do international trade deals, devolution is a long way short of independence.

It is labour in Wales that is privatising the NHS with the PFI funding Velindre Cancer hospital.

What about the staff above that banding? My wife was kicked in the teeth last time. When they changed the spinal points a couple of years ago she actually had a pay put after the pay freeze.

After tax and pension my wife got 148. 1% is what, 16 quid per month for a band 3. Inflation is currently at anything from 5.1 to 7% and some think it's higher. Petrol up by 10%, gas up by 30-50%. Ok everything extra helps but we are thrown crumbs unlike the politicians who always seem to get the big rises.

The UK has no money. The UK has debt. UK general government gross debt was £2,224.5 billion at the end of financial year ending March 2021, equivalent to 106.0% of gross domestic product (GDP). UK general government gross debt was 13.1 percentage points above the average of the 27 European Union (EU) member states at the same point in time.

Wonder how they ran up so much debt . Probably handing out billions to Wales and Scotland in subsidies over the year. Wonder how an independent Wales and Scotland would replace their subsidies.

Of course the UK has money, having debt doesn't mean no money, it's just more hyperbole from you. I'm sure you mean TRILLION btw! OK, we are 13 percentage points above the average, some are better than us but how many are worse? Come on Kilky, be honest, how many EU member states have worse debt than us? The answer is 2, France and Italy (2.65T and 2.573T respectively) https://www.statista.com/stati So do they not have any money? Their unemployment rates are 8.2 and 10.5% respectively, the UK's is 3.8%. EU inflation is roughly the same as the UK, so who is worse off, the UK or Italy and France? Does this mean those two countries need to break up?

When the Tories got back into power they had been left a record debt AND deficit by Labour. debt was still rising because until the deficit was cancelled out the debt was bound to rise. Then of course we had the pandemic which has caused very many countries to take on masses of extra debt. So, you could say the current problems stem back to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Of course, when the realities of debt are pointed out to you you either run and hide or say that nearly every country has deficit and debt so why cant Wales. Its basically that you just take any reason to attack the Westminster government whether it's valid or not. Shall we talk about Welsh Labours financial mismanagement?
