Giving all Health care workers a one off bonus of 735 before tax so around 500 after

That's more than they are getting in England

Now, call me a cynic, but the first thing that came to my mind is the fact they're handing out a decent wedge of cash to some 222,000 people...

In the run up to an election.

If you were a cynic like me, you might argue they're using taxpayer money to buy votes, or at the very least shore up their vote in a part of the electorate that normally leans towards Labour...

This exactly.

Announced the day before Labour announce their election manifesto. They really do undermine the intelligence of the Welsh electorate. Pretty much what Corbyn did when in his last election manifesto when he announced £58bn for women caught up in the pension trap. That didn't save him either. Main difference is Drakeford is paying this as he is in power hoping to save his skin, I would wager a bet that it is in the pay packet at election time.

I think you’ll find it’s the tax payers paying it not the Labour Party.

Just like it’s not BOJO or the Conservatives that will be paying out the £58 Billion in furlough payments he’s given out.

Some pretty naive people out there .

Nice gesture from Marky D

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Just like the Tory offer to destroy the Gwent levels is not the generous offer that Johnson makes it out to be.

It is not really about money though.
Its about choices.

The bluster of Johnson chooses bombs.
Drippy old Drakeford chooses to pay the NHS staff.

I think thats sums it all up really. Go on Marky d. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

222,000 plus partners and close family, that should be enough votes secured to ensure we continue with the crap we get from Welsh Labour. If it starts looking too close for comfort in future years, they can always reduce the voting age to 14, so that the Teachers can swing it for them.
Only one way out of this stranglehold.
Abolish the Welsh Assembly.

I don't see enough people voting for it, support for abolish is only around 15%, 1% more than indy.
If we want change we may have to vote Plaid OR accept this Labour government for another term.
It doesn't mean supporting Indy as they say tey'd have a referendum and we can still vote that down. Maybe voting Plaid would scare Westminster into giving Wales a better deal?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Unfortunately we have to vote for one of them, if they put "None of the above" on the ballot I wonder what they'd find out?

Possiblly something many of them wouldn't like.

Those who will "benefit" from the "thank you" payment are not going to swing the vote. They are going to vote for their preferred party. If the Conservative government gave the money it is not going to change voting intentions.

The staff that my wife works with will take it but think it is a p11ss take compared to those who have been furloughed all year.

How do DVLA workers get a "bonus" every year for doing their jobs (which is tax payers money as you call it).

My wife would rather have a month off after the last year rather than any financial gratuity.

I have worked all the way through this pandemic without any isolation and don't think I should have any monetary reward in front of NHS staff. Unfortunately, because home working and spending habits have changed recently I am working "less family friendly hours" which i a kick in the teeth for keeping the economy going.

We don't have to vote for one of them, I want to vote for abolish, but will that be a vote for Labour.

Anyway, add the Welsh labour sheep vote + 16 year old vote = More of the same.

The DVLA bonus is a good point, it;s like the comany doing DWP assesments, they should never be on a bonus.

Come to that a bonus is a coplete mickey take unles you are a high end banker or stock trader.
Never mind bonuses just pay a decent wage.

My wife is looking forward to her £735 but does she deserve it? She's been working from home for months and we've saved a fortune. Once you start handing out bonuses the waters turn very murky, very quickly.

Historically, Wales has always punched above it's weight with regard to producing politicians who have reached high office at Westminster.
Strangely enough, devolution hit us and all the political talent disappears. The prospect of having to put up with another stretch of 'The Supreme leader' Kim Jong Drakes appalls me.
In Wales, we don't have one person of the right calibre to govern on our behalf. They've only got one person in Scotland, and her sole aim is to get Independence, the prospect of a likely GDP deficit is not even considered. SNP and Plaid are just the same really. The other problem is that a vote for Plaid ultimately benefits Welsh Labour.
If we can get 'Abolish' up to 15 to 20 per cent in such a short time, it could be a real catalyst to return more democracy, resources, and fairness to all regions of Wales.

Abolish is forcast to get 5 seats, 8%, thereabouts. Not enough and I can't see it growing quickly enough. It splits the vote and gives Labour more chance of a majority.

The dirty dealing done with Plaid in exchange for the undemocratically adopted bi-lingual policy has ensured a Welsh Labour First Minister.
Neither of those parties should get a vote from anyone who believes in democracy.
Just do the right thing!

‘We’ ?

Wales would be the only nation on earth to chose to have another nation run its affairs.
No its just not going to happen.

We want a modern progressive democratic Wales in Europe.
We don't want a snivelling Principality, bent at the knee, with quisling leaders like George Thomas.

I hope no proud welsh person would vote abolish. None.

Wales has never voted for the Conservative and Unionist party, and we never will.

Welsh people can only vote Labour or Plaid.
Its a shame it splits the anti Tory vote, but there you go.

Should help surgeons on around 100k a year, most who have done very little in the last 12 months to pay their cleaners for a month.

Meanwhile a large amount of the Welsh population has lived on 20% less pay or seen their business go bust.

Look forward to paying it back via my taxes.
